Not really. The one we use, can use any soundcard you want. It is designed specifically for that reason, to save $$$.

If you do an A/B comparison of anything Digigram or AudioScience makes with ANY consumer level sound card, I guarantee you'll hear a difference.

Even if you manage to fix ground loop issues, you'll probably hear some noise generated by the processor. Sometimes the difference between pro and consumer is what you DON'T hear!
