Immigration is sooooooo over as a topic...

As you know if you have any experience in the squawk radio genre, there are certain topics that it's best to stay away from, e.g. abortion, gun control, etc. These are the topics that are played out as talk fodder and attract the "organized callers," repeating the same talking points ad nauseum, boring the rest of us to tears.

To that list I would now add: Immigration, illegal or otherwise. Damn near every host on the planet is talking about it, and not a single one of them has anything fresh or original to say on the subject.

I would propose a moratorium on immigration as a topic. Yeah, I know: dream on. In an industry where most hosts seem to think people in the real world actually *give* a rat's patoot about the finer points of national politics, I'm sure it'll be more of the same ol' same ol'...

You probably haven't heard Thom Hartmann's take on it.
______________

Well when you live in a city that is over run by illegals, it is a heavy topic and has been for awhile. It is interesting everyone is talking about it now but here in phoenix, the topic is not new.

Just Because YOU'RE Over It...

Whether you are tired of the topic or not is immaterial; the subject is not going away anytime soon and will be debated relentlessly in the months leading up to the mid-term elections.

Our borders are out of control, illegal immigrants...criminals, actually...continue to overwhelm our hospitals with illnesses that they will not/can not pay for, overwhelm our schools with their children who are not supported because their parents don't pay taxes and actually protest OUR policies and established LAWS because it doesn't suit THEM!

Plus, if I see one more Mexican flag waved on the streets during a demonstration, I'll puke.

Going away? Hardly!

Have a listen to Hartmann...

You obviously don't listen to Thom Hartmann, he has some very original things to say about the problem.

Since this isn't a political forum I won't mention what.

But I will say they are neither liberal nor conservative.
______________

You are sooooooooo wrong

Immigration is great talk radio topic.

I most listen to liberal talk radio with one notable exception. I am a fan of the top rated John and Ken Show in Los Angles. (John and Ken, who reach more listeners in a single market than any other talk show host, have been beating on and scoring big ratings on the immigration topic for several months now.)

While liberal talkers have enjoyed watching and gloating on the self destruction of George Bush and the scoring points on disastorous war in Iraq, the Immigration subject is a much more challenging one. While Democrats are quietly pro-immigrant (they see lots of blue voters) they are also pro-labor and immigration is hurting some segments of organized labor. We have seen how immigration is tearing the Republicans apart. Now let's see how the Dems handle it.

I say bring it on.

I have lived in such a city...several such cities. I can tell you it's being thoroughly overblown by demagogue politicians and their media lackeys.

An interesting sidebar: Funny how Tom "the Bomb" Tancredo and his neo-knownothing followers aren't making a big deal about the fact that the east end of Long Island is, how do you put it, "overrun" with first-generation IRISH, most of whom are in this country illegally.
Naaaaah, racism has nothing to do with it...
