Important question

???

R

It seems like all the runners-up are usually the ones to flood the airwaves. So whoever it is to be topping the charts this time next year is probably already voted off..LOL

What about Greg Oden or Kevin Durant?

Oh... Sorry, I don't watch A.I. :)

But for the heck of it, I wrote each name on an index card, and then threw them up in the air. The Jordin card landed on my desk, and the Blake card hit the floor.

I guess the one who hits the floor, gets voted off! ;D

Yaeh who gives a flip-floppin fly about American Idol??

Well, if you work in any form of CHR radio, you probably should.

And if you jock in any format that actually trys to 'relate' to what's important to your listeners, you probably should care also...

After all, this is one huge-assed ratings getter for Fox. (Anybody else notice that the finale comes on the last day of May sweeps?) dollars to doughnuts says almost every major station in the metroplex talks about this tomorrow morning...

Which would explain why you guys don't care about it... :D

Well then, I guess I won't be applying for that KISS FM traffic gig,
where they want someone who is "dedicated and passionate
about the format"....Um, you're doing TRAFFIC, not jocking.... ;D

Personally, I couldn't give a rats about American Idol. The only
good thing that's ever come out of that show was Kelly Clarkson.
Everybody else has been dust in the wind.

CHR, yeah BUT the problem with radio "chit chat" is it trys too much to be "entertainment tonight" what is ther to talk about? If they watched the show they already know who won and why. There are things to talk about other than that. The chr station should stand out from the others instead of doing what the others are doing. that was you have mediocre radio and people not in radio complaining.

Never took up speed typing.

If your talking about American Idol on your show then you must be getting show prep from some crap service. There are plenty of things goin on w/o talking about this tragedy of American television.

shadow, I agree Kelly Clarkson is the only thing to comne outta that show and DO something. Thankfully she's a Texan ;D

I sincerely hope that this is the last year of this show. I cant take it anymore!

If you're a 30-40 year old woman, and listen to AC or country, Carrie Underwood is probably your favorite.

She's racked up hit after hit and appeals to middle America. And I think Kelly is leaning too attitudinal Avril-ish.

The show has a pretty good track record lately.

Based on CD sales, I don't see how you can consider AI contestants with recording contracts to be dust in the wind. Chris Daughtry recently had the #1 selling rock album, and Carrie Underwood, who has better vocals than Kelly Clarkson, has quite a collection of music awards. As for this season, I expect Melinda Doolittle to hit high on contemporary Christian music charts, and I expect Jordin to be a success as well.

Based on CD sales. CD sales have been in a steep decline for sometime.

You are all talking about that thing you all didn't want shows to talk about. If you are NOT doing something with Idol you are not taking advantage of a touchstone bit. You can make fun of it, attack it, love on it...if Kelly Clarkson was available and wanted to be on your show you would say no? I doubt it. If you get into the top 10 in your demo in this market you are doing great...and must take the arrows from those below with a grain of salt. If you SUCK and still hit your demos strong...you don't suck except to other personalities...and nobody deos a show to please us...because you can't please another disc jockey..

I think the real problem with AI, is that it's too much of a reality show. I suspect many have never been fond of stuff like Survivor / Big Brother / American Idol, etc... AI seems like a washed up version of a talent show, Big B and Survivor are just pointless. Remember when Fox tried somrthing like this? It was kind of a cute show, but the ratings tanked. Hence the show was canned before the final episodes aired.
