Important question

S.B sums up the post 1996 broadcaster..monkey see monkey do,,follow the leader instead of being the leader.

Really, you don't know who I am... or how old..nor how I do in my market. How do I know I have not just been trashed by a nitwit nobody? With one sentence you take out most broadcasters working since 1996? Howards fun with Sanjaya..monkey see monkey do...or having fun with a silly show that gets him press for weeks? I stop now as writing to you is a waste of my time and I have show prep to do for my market leading show...want to compare paychecks piker?

Do you think it's some kind of badge of honor to be a pre-1996 broadcaster? I mean, it's no skin off my teeth, I've got more time pre 96 than post 96 (at least for a couple more years), but are you saying that there's NO creative broadcasters since 1996, that they're all monkey see monkey do copycats?

I think he's saying there's little enthusiasm for jocks in general, to be creative, simply because the corporate monkey boys have turned most jocks into liner card readers. I have no doubt there are plenty of entertaining jocks pre and post 1996. It's the pathetic control freak managers who are responsible for the post 1996 jock stifle. They won't allow the jocks to stray outside the box.

Robert pretty well summed up my thoughts. There are VERY few post 1996 broadcasters who have the apssion for their craft( as I have mentioned many times before) they are only intersted in getting their name out and a paycheck They refuse to be innovators and invoke creativity. They rather follow someone else rather than blaze a trail. Thanks for checking in David Kraddick. I guess when you get the big checks it does "Pay to be ignorant" ( *old radio game show)

Well, if you work in any form of CHR radio, you probably should.

Well then, I guess I won't be applying for that KISS FM traffic gig,
where they want someone who is "dedicated and passionate
about the format"....Um, you're doing TRAFFIC, not jocking.... ;D

Personally, I couldn't give a rats about American Idol. The only
good thing that's ever come out of that show was Kelly Clarkson.
Everybody else has been dust in the wind.

40 years from now, will anyone care ? ? ?

It's been 40 years, and I still appreciate what Carole King and Carley Simon did back then . . .
