Improvements at Rewind

I've been impressed by Rewind from the start (especially by Columbus standards), but lately they've made some smart tweaks which will hopefully pay off:

Besides nicely freshening the music, they've abandoned that unnecessarily limiting "nothing beyond Dec 1989" rule.  They now play some early 90's songs, including tunes that make so much sense texturally, e.g. Finally by CeCe Penniston.

And they've updated the listener testimonials -- finally, as CeCe would say!

Makes sense to optimize the sound now, when they might be getting some sampling or extra TSL from  AC listeners who want a break from nonstop Christmas music.

Now if only Santa will bring them a decent signal....

I hate to be a Scrooge here, but I HATE 94.7%(Get it?) of Christmas music, and with good reason...I listen to it nonstop at work during this time of the year. I wonder how many other folks hate this time of the year, especially the ones that listen to AC. I could do with only the following six tunes:
BOB RIVERS-The Twelve Pains of Christmas and Wreck The Malls
VINCE GURALDI-Linus and Lucy and Christmas Is Coming
BARENAKED LADIES-Elf's Lament and (Especially)Green Christmas

The signals they own with the exception of 94.7 are all rimshots. So the only way they'd get a better signal is if they swapped with 94.7. But Sunny 95 happens to be the moneymaker for them. Sunny unfortunately would have become a rimshot so either Mix 107.9 or rewind could have a strong signal and Soft Rock 93.3 would just love to see that.

Maybe certain people on this board should stick to telling us what they DO like instead of constantly going on and on about what they DON'T like. I would think it would make more sense for someone to keep track of the half-dozen things they can tolerate as opposed to enlightening us to the millions of things that they can't stand.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Curious to hear a call for pacifism coming from a "battlefield."  Regardless, I sure would like to see that advice applied to talk radio, so that it might exude a positive vibe sometimes instead of living by the opposite, ugly mantra of stubborn derision and divisiveness.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I think I prefer the imaging on cinci, but the music on Columbus. Are the rewinds centrally playlisted, if you compare the two they are very similar .

The only reason I might give Cincy a very slight edge musically -- other than the hugely better signal -- is that they throw in one or two 1995-2005 tunes every hour in place of some of the 70's. Helps spice up the mix. But, as I said, Columbus's Rewind is at least moving a tad into the 90's now.

Are you sure the Rewinds are centrally playlisted? By who -- tsome consultant? If so, which one? I don't think "Rewind" is a trademarked handle...any station, in any format, could use it.

I like Rewind in Cinci better because they sprinkle in 90s-00s as well. Gives them a good AC feel.

Rewind is moving into the 90s now? Couldn't tell by their playlist. They still sound so "WGRR"

I only thought they might be programmer centrally because if you look at the days playlists they do look very similar but could be coincidence. I heard Sheryl crow (96) and the spin doctors (93) yesterday. Listening in the UK and much preferring US radio over UK radio at the moment.

Not long ago I was also listening to Rewind Columbus online, and was pleasantly surprised to hear "If It Makes You Happy"...but quickly realized what was going on: It was being played solely on the stream, during certain advertising breaks which are non-streamed due to copyright royalty issues. This was confirmed by turning on the radio and, alas, no Sheryl. But if you are listening online only, enjoy! Besides, they may very well be moving in the direction of using 90's spice anyway (and maybe eventually 00's). OTOH, Rewind's position as the de facto Greatest Hits station locally (due to Columbus's bizarrely continuing lack of traditional Classic Hits) may keep them from progressing too far era-wise.
