Impulse Console Question

I take care of some Harris/PR&E Impulse consoles that have not had a firmware upgrade since they were installed years ago. I have had two of these consoles suddenly quit passing audio, with no indication of audio at all. A tiny LED on one of the large circut boards quits flickering when this happens. Following instructions from the manufacturer, I've had to check voltage levels, compare test points using an oscilloscope and tweak C257 until I get between +2.20 and +2.30 Volts at the top of R399. A very delicate operation, but it restores normal operation...at least until the board is switched off or the power goes out. Then, I may or may not have to repeat the procedure. It's my understanding that there is a firmware upgrade that should result in increased stability. Have any of you had this same problem? Have you installed a firmware upgrade? Did the firmware upgrade help? Did the firmware upgrade induce problems you didn't already have? Thanks.

I have no first-hand experience with firmware upgrades, but the Impulse I care for has been solid for the 14 months I've been with it...records show that it had horrible problems when first installed, but eventually a series of board-swaps and updates settled it down. I believe a forum search will yield similar experiences.

I have 5 impulse consoles, 3 ea 20 channel and 2 ea 12 channel that have been runnning fine now for 11 years. Lost 1 motherboard 5 years ago, and have lost a couple of analog input cards, but otherwise, great boards. We only use 3 digital inputs on each board and have plenty of those boards left. I use the analog output rather than going through to many digital rate conversions on the way to the transmitters. Never have done any software updates. Some of the buttons are starting to show normal wear and tear, but that's to be expected after 11 years.
