Imus and Stern news

Wouldn't it be funny if Stuttering John was hired by Opie & Anthony?

Are the people over at the fox business network thinking that Imus will help establish the channel like he helped MSNBC in the 90s? If so, they're making a big misstake. The Imus of today doesn't have the same impact as the Imus of the 90s. He doesn't get the top political guest anymore and he can barely talk these days.

Imus still gets quite a few politicos, but, true, it ain't like it was.......I think FBN is a much better fit than RFD-TV, and, if Fox properties can allow Beck to do what he does on FNC, maybe they will let Imus fire his shots more freely...

What could make this work for Fox Business is that when Imus is on his game, he still can be one of the better interviewers out there.....one of the joys of the WFAN/MSNBC broadcasts was how Imus could get politicians, authors, and other soap-box jumpers to say things that other interviewers could only dream about. Combine that with some bone-crushing comedy/parody, and I can see this working.....Give him a better-known outlet, including more frequent appearances on Fox News, and I think this could be successful.

As for format breaking..I remind one and all that MSNBC {which still can't hold a candle to Fox's ratings} is "The Place For Politics...then runs the same 30-40 documentaries about murderers and child molesters most evenings and all weekend long.

Besides, who the hell is watching Fox Business now?

Oh, yeah....radio. Imus was able to overcome so many broadcast/tech obstacles between WFAN, national syndication, and MSNBC by pitching a bitch about it on-air. He still does.

I don't believe they air "doc blocks" every night. Although I've noticed they've scaled back their Friday night news programming, even back into primetime in some cases, in favor of MSNBC documentaries.

The interviews were always the best part of Imus in the morning IMO(Maybe together with the Imus-Bernard fueds).

I see how this could possibly work. FBN could replace the sports with business news and Imus would interivew more CEO:s and financial analysts. It's not a total mismatch.

BUT I don't think Imus can save the FBN. CEO:s aren't like politicians. The public isn't as interested in the business people and CEO:s know how to keep their mouths shut. Imus on FBN is not going to be a big deal. A few of the Imus fans will watch but it won't establish FBN.

FBN is struggling bigtime and is costing newscorp lots of money that is threating their entire buisness model This is a last ditch effort to save FBN, if it does not work it will go the way of FNN/Score and the CNN Business channel

FBN already has a radio host on its roster in Dave Ramsey. At this point, they might as well air reruns of Beck - ugh, wait, his show is actually not good business on Fox... my bad...
