Imus Attacks Jay Severin

E

Guest
Did anyone hear Don Imus go after Jay Severin on his show this morning?
Imus called Severin "tedious". While that may apply to Imus as well, it is also an apt description of Jay Severin and his new syndicated show.

Severin can't seem to get out of his own way on his new show. Same routine day in and day out which makes it almost unlistenable.

Anyone taking bets on when someone will cut the cord and put Severin show out of its misery?

I'll bet there are at least one or two radio listeners who've wondered the same thing about Don Imus???

Severin might be good in small doses, but I tend to not listen. We'll have to see what kind of ratings he (Jay) will get on WTKK, WPHT (Philly), KMOX (St. Louis),
etc. He's sure to be pre-empted often in Philly by the...er...Phillies
starting in April.
______________

Yes. it is pretty bad. No worse than that it is an embarassment. Severino is like the dog who goes for the reflection of the bone he sees in the pond because it looks bigger and ends up getting all wet. Jay couldn't handle a small segment on cable TV and he can't handle syndicated radio.
Sad, but true. The same thing happened to Gene Burns.

I didn't hear the context of his remark but they don't have to have him on every 3 weeks, if he's "tedious."Get him out of the rotation, like "I" infamously did to George Will. James Wolcott has really gone after I-man on his blog in the last 2 weeks. Maybe that's why "I" said this morning that he "just doesn't care" anymore, which is obvious.

He did OK in Boston, I'm sure he'll do even better in the redneck markets.

Good for Imus, it's time everyone stopped backing down from Severin. He's a very self-righteous man, self-appointed expert on nothing.

who is Imus to comment?

Imus should talk. His show is unlistenable!

Lately Severin wants to be a rock-n-roll dj. He keeps rambling about music theory. If you're a musician it's music 101, if you're not then it's boring.

Here is the recipe for a typical hour on the Severin show:

Ridiculous vampire intro
"Go ahead Jay, give me your issues"
"OK, if I must"
long-winded monologue
commercial for the countertop shop
"Brain cocktails with Jay, what will you have?"
take two callers, cut them off
commercial for Dr Bruce Hout-t-t-t-t-ton
long-winded musical theory about the bumper music
take two callers, cut them off
commercial for Vermont Teddy Bears
take two callers, cut them off

repeat above

That pretty much sums up Jay's show.

I miss Laura Ingraham.
Sevrin pushed her off...
Best female talk show in the nation.
A++++ Production staff!!!!!

Re: And Laura Ingraham??????

Still on at 10 pm; and if you happen to live on the North Shore, she's on
live 9-noon on WNSH. This week she's reporting live from Iraq, with
Jed Babin holding down the fort at the D.C. studios.

Philly ("but since I'm still getting to know you, I'll call

Imus is still on the air? I haven't listened at all in recent years... I did put it on some months back but when I heard the voices of Bernie and Bo Dietl, I immediately changed the station.

Laura needs to get laid. In fact Jay needs to get laid too. These are very angry people.

Laura has a shrill tone and projects hysteria everytime she turns on the mike.

It's funny when Severin takes a call from Boston. You can almost hear him gritting his teeth when he mentions 96-9 FM Talk.
He'll find his legs and carry on for a year, maybe two.
Much better as a local show than what he's doing now.

Laura is fighting breast cancer and doing very well, I will have you know. She has one of the
highest rated talk shows in the nation and is currently in Iraq interviewing
our brave soldiers. Angry? She's no Michael Savage.
______________
