IMUS back on in Bangor

There's an ad in this weekend's edition of the Bangor Daily News Advertising Don Imus back on Fox Sports Radio (WAEI) AM910 and FM 97.1 weekdays 6-9AM.

Seems odd to be having a show from MSNBC on a FOX Sports Radio affiliate.

Or is IMUS produced independantly and just distributed to MSNBC??

What's really odd for me is the ad itself. When Imus was on Cumulus' WWMJ 95.7, the ad and many of their on-air liners was "Imus in the morning, oldies all day." Now the ad for Blueberry's WAEI 97.1 reads "Imus in the morning, Fox Sports all day."

Really original Blueberry!!!!

Imus is syndicated by Citadel now, and on TV on Fox Biz..before that he was on RFD-TV. During his MSNBC days he was syndicated by Westwood One, which at the time was under the same umbrella as CBS

Considering "Imus in the morning (insert format here) all day" is used by countless stations all across the country (and has been since Imus was actually relevant a decade and change ago), neither 95.7 or 97.1 were doing anything remotely original.

Imus is on in Portland (WZAN-AM, one of the markets strongest AM signals) where he is ranked 19th in total audience - 12+. However, he is ranked 8th in 65+.

Imus Rushstern...maybe we can come with a hybred someone might care about.

Imus is like listening to someone describe...listening to paint drying...and then complaining about...constantly. Just a few more miles and this elephant will have finally found the bone yard.

While I'll agree he's not the dominant force he was 10 or 15+ years ago, I still enjoy catching bits and pieces on the morning commute.

I'll give you that, Grit. Although his beholdence to Fox has long removed any independent bite the I-Man once had. Everything is now chewed on right side of Imus' mouth. Between Imus' mumbled slurring, and my loss of hearing and tinnitus from wearing Koss HV1 cans, I may as well be listening to Bud Sawyer. Still, something is better than nothing.

The woman who does the business report at 6:25 is Dagen McDowell. (Great name!) Far from a classic radio voice, but something about it makes me actually listen to financial news that I would otherwise not care less about.

Imus hasn't been on MSNBC for quite some time. He's the ayem talent on Fox Business News these days.

You're right!! I totally forgot about that....Haven't seen him on FBN...but definitely would explain the FOX tie-in.

To use a phrase Imus always uses... It's dogtrack time for the Iman!
He still has a lot of clout with some listners. Still sells a lot of books for authors. still has great political connections and reporters. He's still relevant but well past his prime... and he knows it!

I had to listen in to the I-Man when I read he would be back on in Bangor. It sounded just like it did when I was doing local news during his time on WWMJ. Same crew, same comments. It was just discussing the topics of the day instead. I took it for a while then told him to "Get off my radio!"
