Imus Back To WTAN and Devil Rays are... huh?

What's going on over at 1250 WHNZ? Just read in The Times that Imus is moving back to WTAN. Kind of stupid but whatever.... But what's even more puzzling is the last sentence says WTAN is also going to start running Tampa Bay Devil Rays "night games"? HUH? That can't possibly be right. Can anyone verify or at least straighten out what's really happening? No way would local major league team that plays 90% of their games after dark ever sign up WTAN. Give me a break.

That would be in keeping with this ownership's ineptness and total disregard for the fans of Tampa Bay. These are the same guys who allowed Lou Piniella to leave and hired Joe Maddon. These are the same people who have done nothing to improve our major league baseball team. These are the people that, for some inane reason, fired Bill Couch the longtime PA announcer! This is the ownership that spent the off season talking about trading Crawford and Baldelli. These are the guys who are playing 3 "home games" at Disney. These guys signed a reserve infielder last week with a .209 lifetime batting average and Andrew Freidman was quoted as saying "We've had our eye on him for quite some time". Knowing what we know about this awful ownership, why wouldn't they put night games on a signal that the majority of Tampa Bay will not be able to hear!

Wow. At least Vince Namoli got three seasons in before he got that kind of grief.

Sad to say that Major League Baseball has no real revenue sharing...and until that happens, unless you want to shell out $150 million a year for payroll, they ll get two more obligatory strikes.

The Rays are buying time on 1250... maybe they are also buying 1340 for a little more night coverage in Pinellas. Proably getting it "for less that the cost of a 60-second commercial"....

Let's see....these guys are at 24 million this year...Even Vince had a higher payroll...Sad, very sad this ownership. They've lied to us.

Either that...OR....

They're trying desparately to stockpile revenue to re-sign the likes of Kazmir, Baldelli, CC and Upton when the time comes

OR......

They're looking into a relocation strategy, thinking that this market is a no-win situation.

Either way, I don't really like the way the NDRO is going about their business...
