That "day" may be sooner that you think. How many times can "terrestrial" radio be told what a "failure" it is, when millions of stockholders look to the altar of Wall Street everyday and see their stock investments in "radio" in the corporate "pooper" everyday?
Then, you have that young, hip, cool beyond belief "next generation" smart enough to know that radio is rapidly becoming a major "NOT!" in their lexicon. "Some corporate dude's idea of rad talk on FM sucked," so, now it's bye-bye Free FM, Howard's on satellite (with less than an audience he once had, but tons more money,) the nation awaits on when the other shoe on Opie & Anthony will drop and, the next incarnation of "Imus In the Morning" is already causing yawns across the demographic board. And don't forget about "Whoopi." She more than toast in just Chicago. Where else is she making it in radio ... especially since the next subway stop is at "The View"?
And what about the next great device about to come our way within weeks ... not in years?
Migration to FM for talk? You bet there is. The older demo that bought into AM 50 years ago is getting smaller every day. Baby Boomers long ago bought into FM and ... there's no looking back. Hold on to those laptops. There's hope with the Internet, if "corporate" and government regulation doesn't screw that up, too.
