Imus gone from WTKK

They had him for at least a decade. The I-man changed radio flagships in NYC after the
Rutgers comments. TKK welcomed him back after they couldn't get Howie C for mornings.
Now radio-info.com says that not only are Jim and Margery starting at 6 am, that 5-6 hr
will be a re-airing of Phil Hendrie.

I-man also had an interesting situation with the banning of Jay Severin from his show. One
memorable picture showed him tearing into Jay during the Kiss Me I'm Imus show.

radio-info.com headlines:
>>Greater Media says the "Jim & Margery Show" will push back from its current 7am start time to 6am, and Phil Hendrie will be heard up until 6am. That eases out Don Imus from his current 5-7am slot, as of Thursday (Jan. 13). WTKK programmer Grace Blazer says Jim Braude and Margery Eagan are the only male-female talk team in Boston radio, and "the real deal." She says "their smart, lively and witty program is in big demand by both listeners and advertisers."

So where, if anywhere, does the I-Man land in the Boston market?

Will WRKO finally put us out of our "Tom and Todd" misery? Does WXKS continue to pay a live, local morning guy for a 1 share? An unknown FM outlet?

RKO is committed to Tom and Todd for awhile. I'd think WXKS is keeping Katz for awhile despite
low ratings. They're actually spending money for local news readers, unlike RKO which does
Metro-Shadow (WPLM is running that, too; Scott Pike etc.) Wouldn't picture XKS picking up Imus

If you thought the Howie/Felon feud was fun, Imagine an IMUS/Howie battle.

I wonder if Dershowitz is available, Howie needs another condo in Florida compliments of Don Imus.

A 1 share? You mean a 0.1 share. That was for Morning Drive in December.

It's been so long since I've heard Imus that I remember Barnicle being on. I doubt that's ever the case now, he's on with Morning Joe.

Just wondering, but isn't the better question why would anyone air Hendrie the first time, never mind re-airing him? I guess you're a fan, but after a couple of listens, His show really does seem like pretentious crap.

Regards,
TSB

WWZN, anyone?

And cue MarcB to suggest the local classical music station start carrying the show, just like WCCC-AM in Hartford is... ::)

The station killed the show only having it on 5-7 - it's a shame cause the Imus show is great these days

Citadel doesn't own anything in Boston, right?

If they did, maybe they could flip an FM station to "True Oldies" with Imus in the Morning. Because that worked so well for them in DC and Atlanta. :D

I am not at all a Hendrie detractor. I recognize what he brings to the table. But WTKK has to do something else at 5 AM...Hendrie is not a morning drive host.

They ought to bring back "Good Morning Boston" ("Sunrise Boston"?), that Len Mailloux used to lead (with Bonnie __? doing weather) on 105.7-WVBF from 5 (4:30?)-6am.
Either that, rejoin Jim Bohannon's "America In The Morning" news show.

Too bad. He was great once upon a time. He got shafted because of feigned outrage.

Is anyone running "AITM" in Boston now? Because that would be a perfect solution as far as non-local programming is concerned.
