Imus in NEPA?

The I-Man is back on the air next Monday...

Any word if he will be carried locally on one of the Citadel stations?

What would you think there would be any interest in this character? I can't see any station foolish enough to spend a dime on this washed up has-been! If offered for free, I'd turn down the opportunity to pollute the airwaves with his drivel.

That's the way to approach it! Gee, maybe that's why you're still in NEPA posting on this board and Imus is set to launch a huge comeback from undeserved humiliation and criticism and make gobs of money to boot. Maybe you should take a lesson from him. Just an observation, nothing personal.

Does not matter if you like him or not, if you KNOW THIS AREA, you know NONE of the superstars that make gobs and gobs of money elsewhere make ANY money in this market. Name ONE that has succeeded here and I'll eat my hat. No wait, if they succeeded here, they still be on the air. Yes, even the king-of-all-media failed here.

The only person that had an obsession with Imus over the past ten years locally was Bob Cordaro. He was scarier than most groupies when it came to Imus. He was on The Imus show the morning he skipped town on the stadium remote 'cause they wouldn't put the wife through. He was grovelling. It was sickening! He picked it up on 1550 when WARM dropped him that first time.

You Peaked my intrest....That name I remember!..Fill me in on a little of his background. Either post or send me a PM..Thanks

Tom

That's correct Wunderlust... these Superstars mean nothing here... overpriced and overhyped. The names mean nothing... Scott Shannon on WARM, boy is that name driving listeners to that station! If Imus was in his prime, he may have had only a marginal impact in this market. If we were taking bests... huge success or total failure and off the air in 6 months... where would most of you put your money? I don't go by their track record in other markets.. NE PA will not tolerate a washed up grumpy old egomaniac.

When Cordaro was running Imus in this market, he only paid $600.00 a month. What does that tell you?

it already does on WILK's morning show

I haveto agree ...however there are a few, very few, grumpy old listeners who dote on every word the egomaniac says. :D :D :D :D

Imus generated about 20 million a year in billings and syndication fees. So,despite his lackluster reception here in NEPA he was a big hit in NYC , Providence and to a smaller degree in Boston. He was not really a ratings leader anywhere except Providence. But advertisers bought him and the high level guests lined up.

Listened to his first hour or so online. He sounds great. Good to have him back after the undeserved absence.

On a related note, fired WSBG morning man Gary Smith (let go by the spineless Nassau after Gary repeated the Imus phrase) will start his streaming Internet show soon on www.garyinthemorning.com .

Based on the guests for the first couple of days, seems like the policos like having him back on the air...McCain....Mike Huckabee...

Have to say I was surprised that Bernie was brought back....
