Imus in Pittsburgh

Now that Don Imus is back on the air at WABC - New York and will be simulcasted across the United States, do any of you see any Pittsburgh stations picking up his new show? I know Hannity, Limbaugh, and Noory are all Clear Channel, but their flag ship station is WABC - New York and most of the shows on FM NEWSTALK 1047 are WABC programs, though they only carry the Clear Channel programs since that's 1047's owner and Jim Quinn will probably be on the radio until 2052. How can you have a Clear Channel Show on a Citadel Broadcasting Network such as WABC?

I say ESPN 1250, but don't hold your breath. Imus has always seemed to do well on all-sports stations, though it's not a sports show.

ESPN owns 1250, there's no way Mike & Mike are going anywhere. This is one of their better markets..they actually bring the show here from time to time, and Greenberg has done book signings here.

The only way you're going to hear Imus is if they cut another discount deal and a 660 or something like that can get it cheap.

WURP used to carry him and I was a loyal listener. They never promoted his show, however.

Then when the station went to business they were going to bring him back, but then the Imus witch hunt began and that plan obviously was quelled.

I'd love to see him return. I'm listening to him online now!

Imus is crap! Who cares if he's on in Pittsburgh. After about 3 months, his ratings will be right where they were before the nappy headed comment....in the basement!

I think Imus had the 10th biggest audience in radio before his fall.

I admit I was and am an Imus fan.

You may be right about his audience falling as time goes by. But the fact of the matter is he does get great guests from all over the political spectrum and is very objective.

Most political talk shows have some sort of leaning. With Imus, I knew I could find the mainstream opinion.

His show was always profitable because of this and I have no reason to believe it won't be.

A replacement for Mike and Mike? Probably not. But I believe he could bring a wealth of quality advertisers to any station that wished to pick him up.

Maybe because 1550 never promoted it?

More likely because of their mighty 4-watt output during the first hour of his show.
Personally I think they should team him up with Uncle Dougie for a daily HDTV
spectacular.
