Imus out at CBS

I never did care for Imus' brand of "entertainment". He proved his character further with recent statements about talented and hard-working collegiate basketball players. Though it's undoubtedly purely financially driven, I'm glad CBS canned him. However, I sadly suspect he will soon be embraced by satellite radio as were O&A and Howard Stern... though I must admit, I enjoyed the latter two shows far more than I ever enjoyed listening to Imus. Was he even being broadcast anywhere in Sacramento recently?

Closest place I know of was in Napa. I believe he was at KRAK 1470 at one point, but that was years ago.

Imus was on KHTK-1140 until October, 1999. When the station signed the Rise Guys for mornings, Imus' show was moved to KRAK-1470 -- only because Infinity had a contract to clear the program in Sacramento for three more years. Imus left the air when KRAK was sold to ABC/Disney in 2002.

Good thing CBS wasn't running him in Sacramento recently. They couldn't afford to lose the revenue attached to Imus' show. At WFAN, it's said that 25%, or about $12 million a year of revenue was generated by Imus. Ouch. That's gotta hurt.

Imus worked at either KJOY or KSTN Stockton, then moved to mornings on KXOA AM 1470 in the Sixties and also played country on KXOA-FM 107.9. I remember Imus in Stereo Country very well. If I only had my tape machines back then.
