Imus only took calls when a sponsor was giving away something.
The show is awful and I can't listen to it. I used to be a listener. Going on Fox was what started the downhill trend.
Imus is over the hill. Just repeating Republican talking points like John Gambling is boring.
Wouldn't read much into this as far as Imus is concerned. Poughkeepsie is within WABC's 2.5 mV contour to begin with, so that's where he's probably getting most of his Dutchess County audience. WKIP's best competitive option is to offer something of its own in a crucial daypart. If there's a takeaway, it's that a station that wants to compete in any decent-sized market is going to need to have a lot of local content unique to itself. In that regard, WKIP gets it.
I'll try to bump this thread, because the topic is 6 years old. His contract with WABC and other stations will be ending by the end of March. That means Don Imus is going to retire from radio starting March 29th.
