IMUS

Will not expand nor expound. But, I would not want to be in the Imus household this weekend. The family was due to appear on Good Morning America, (Ithink) this week to promote her new book.

Oh, boy,

I knew he would get even flipper, with Sid Rosenberg reporting from Florida. I am pleased that Chris Carlin, is still a gentleman and a good reporter .

What goes around comes around

Ok, What did he say?
No games. If he said anything against a Gay or Illegal or Dark skinned person, I imagine
he will be fired soon. Walter.

He referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos" On his radio show, Imus compared the "rough girls from Rutgers. They got tattoos," to the Tennessee girls, who "all looked cute."

All of the above are his words. None are mine.

Imus is so screwed. Actually, if they were White, no problem, they're not. Oh my .

It's crude , colorful, and SOMEWHAT on traget.
Oh, and very Imus funny.
He's SOOO dead. Walter.

thanks Sky.

If you listen closely, you can also hear Sid, I believe, refer to the game against the "jig-a-boos" against the "wanna-bes".

During the conversation, Charles McCord says, very softly, "Oh, no..."

Nothing will happen to Imus. As for Sid, or Bernard, it's anyone's guess.

Also, it's interesting to note that not a word of this has been discussed on the Boston forum. Imus broadcasts, on occasion, from different venues in the Olde Towne.

I think that Imus only pulls in a tenth of the ratings that he once did. He must be getting clobbered in Boston if nobody noticed.

Well, Lets see if there is such a thing as FAIR out there.
Depetro said FAT LESBIAN to some nobody and they fired him. Big scandal.

Imus has done MUCH WORSE.
Lets SEE.

Comparing DePetro to Imus? Hmmm....let me see who bills more......who's in the Broadcasters' Hall Of Fame.....who's main charity raises millions of dollars for kids with cancer to learn how to be independent instead of wallowing in self-pity and to feel better about themselves. Sure, The scale is balanced between the two.....

I'm not saying John Donald Imus should be supported for what he said, especially after he apologized for the insensitive and stupid remarks. It was dumb, especially in today's overly-PC climate.

But fire him? Not gonna happen.

After I posted the Imus topic, I had regrets. I imagined, replies like "Who Cares, or the like.

I heard it, I was stunned, but, as I said in a previous post, I knew it was coming, he has been getting cockier and cockier.

As one can see, he needs his wife to keep him in check, also Charles. If not, with influences like Sid, he is like an easily led child.

He became too confident with his ratings.

Oh, well.

He gave an "audio" footnote to the "jig-a-boos" against the "wanna-bes" comment. That was first mentioned in a Spike Lee movie called "School Daze" where a group of dark skinned nappy haired black girls competed against a group of light skinned black girls with "good hair".

Does that soften the controversy? Doubtful, but it could lay the ground work for a "black people have been saying that about black women for years" defense.

Heck, listen to any hip-hop song and you'll hear far worse comments made about black women.

Not that, that makes it right ::)

Everybody's up in arms; but he'll get a week or so suspension, do some PSA's and be back on the air....Bernard might lose his job, even though he's been with him since the late 80's

Quite honestly I don't believe Imus said those comments to get "his name out there". Yes, his career has been over for quite sometime, but with that highly unnecessary comment that he made about those players was simply going too far. Now he has Al Sharpton, the NAACP, and everyone else on his ~you know what~, just for publicity. I seriously doubt it, if so I wouldn't want to be in shoes now..Oh and since he's name calling, I found it funny that on another board somebody suggested that Imus looks like a corpse..hmmm, quite the resemblance if you ask me...

Re: IMUS and a career that is "Over"

I find it so funny that several of the posts say that Imus' career is over. Is it the same Imus that it was 15 years ago ? No it is not. It is a different Imus with a different purpose. I challenge any radio personality to have a career that is "Over" to have a nationally syndicated radio show and one of the highest rated programs on MSNBC and a salary in the millions. If that is "Over" give it to me. I think (no I know) he has actually done more with his radio power in recent years or the "over" years as you all refer to it than he ever did in the drug years. In the age of radio cut backs and voice tracking, if Imus' career was over he would be gone. He is one of the highest revenue generators that Infinity has on the air. Imus probably makes more in 1 week than those that posted the comments about "over" make in a year. Maybe what we are over is stupid people with stupid comments.

I think lots of people just believe certain careers "SHOULD" Be over. Certain acts get old after a while. Imus, Limbaugh. etc..... They've been doing the same thing for so long and to many people it gets tiring. Yes they bring in ratings, but their programs are no longer FRESH! Imus used to have ratings through the roof. Now isn't he something like Number 20 in New York? Even Stern has turned pretty Lazy these days. 4 day weeks and the comedy bits are almost non-existant.

Yes these personalities will go down in history. No doubt about it. But I think listeners are amazed that certain radio people can sustain a career when these same personalities are only a shell of what they used to be.

Kind of an interesting comment. Although not a huge fan of Limbaugh he is topical and discusses very current issues every day. It is not like he is discussing the same thing today that he did 5 years ago. I think in FM music format morning show radio, things get old. Same stunts or accordian songs or spoofs etc that they did 15 years ago and still do today. As for IMUS, his guest are big names from all walks of life. He has top political, sports, tv and musical guests on all the time all discussing current issues or topics. I would guess that you might think that the daily news paper or evening news is old because they continue to print stories on paper or talk every night on tv about what is going on. What about Playboy? Is that an "old" act because they continue to show women.
