Will KNML drop IMUS?????

Think about this every chr station in the country plays countless rap tunes that use words like nappy headed hoe's........is there a double standard or am I looking at a world with just people you know like Jesus would want us to do......
 
When did this subject turn to Hip Hop? This was a jock who said something horrible about women. Not to mention the fact that they were also African-American. You don't honestly think Imus meant the Anglo-American players on the team, do you? Don Imus uses public airwaves on free radio to say these stupid things, and the TV media dismisses this fact to go on about "why isn't anyone saying anything about the rappers using these words?" crap... Politicians like John McCain saying "well, I believe he's apologozed and I believe in second chances." Glenn Beck on CNN's Headline Prime saying that Don Imus shouldn't be fired because if Chris Rock said those same remarks on HBO, he'd just get a laugh and everything would be OK. I've said this on my show, and I'll say it here. Imus is like your Grandfather whose still driving a car when he should no longer be driving. Someone needs to take Grandpa's keys and license, and let him retire to his ranch in SF so he can no longer be on-air making stupid remarks and having the suits at MSNBC and CBS radio basically back him up by only giving him a 2 week vaca-...oh, I mean "suspension". Bravo for Staples and that other sponsor dropping Grandpa!! If I went on-air and called Anglo-Americans "crackers", the "white devils" or "honkeys", I'd be fired in a heartbeat, beacuse that's what SHOULD happen, whether it's Big Benny & The Wake-Up Show in little ol' ABQ, or Don "I'm above the rules" Imus in big bad New York City!! LEGEND BE DAMNED!! Fire Grandpa!!
 
How many of you feel this is a work? Imus comes out like a crusty old man that gets serious hype and when he comes back in 2 weeks his numbers will skyrocket. Al Sharpton comes out looking like the great defender of the African-American.

So many people were talking about Imus and even Sharpton today that had never heard those shows or even heard about either of them. The guys are all over the nation and yes I do abide by the even bad publicity is still publicity. These guys are putting each other over.

Worst case scenario, Imus canned and is picked up by XM or Sirius.

I don't know if Sirius would want him being how he and Stern are enemies, but I could see XM making a run for him with some silly money. XM needs a splash. I laugh at some of the people that keep trying to downplay sat. radio, but if you haven't tried it once you get it, you're finished with commercial radio.

As a listener I've had Sirius for 2 years now and have not listenered to one music station in ABQ since. I sometimes listen to the local talk shows here in town (Villanucci, Clark, Martin, Stiegler) for the local flavor, but I have a feeling if and when Sirius/XM can regionalize their satelites you will see more people escaping.

Seriously, to listen to 45 minutes of Stern, 5 minutes of commercials and another 45 of Stern and Co. is so much better then KKOB's 7-12 minutes of commercials, traffic, weather, and 3 minutes of content.

So to answer your question Imus could be the racist jokester he wants all day long... They would pay him millions and market him like mad!

and they said they will study the Imus situation to see what they will do next......HEY idiots if you just fired your local guy for saying the same thing Imus said!!!!! You have NO choice but to can IMUS!!! so WHY are you waiting??????? Don't cha just love how suits in radio decide things!!!!

BIG Benny....I used Hip Hop in my point for this reason..........The use of
those demeaning words in their raps has made white folks who BUY most of those records to think hey it's Ok to talk like that after all I just heard 50 cent say Hoe's in his rap 100 times already.

That is why as BROADCASTERS we should raise the bar!!! and NOT lower the Bar. Public Schools are making the Mistake of lowering the Bar because are kids are not making the grade.

On my stations we only play the clean versions of tunes.

I follow you. I just know that I've heard tons of TV media bringing this Hip Hop thing up (Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly...etc). It just seems to me that when someone does what Imus did, these idiots come on TV to "stir the pot", "play Devil's advocate", and it seems as though Hip Hop always ends up on trial instead of the actual person we should have on trial, which in this case is Don "MSNBC just dropped me" Imus. Don't worry, Don. I'm sure there is a warm seat waiting for you at a local Bingo parlor...I'll buy you your first dabber! ;)

Sharpton just said on Fox news that he will go after record companies as well as radio stations that play stuff with words such as well you know.....well let's see what happens

Its a big damn joke, black owned radio stations here on the east coast and black announcers rip whitey on a 24/7 basis and the chicken s*&^ FCC wont do a thing. There are double standards in this one-sided country, if the shoe were on the other foot nothing would of been done. As for Shapton and Jesse if they had real jobs for once they would get out of insane problems. How many times does Stevie Wonder use the term nappy headed boy in his tunes, and do you think its right what that fool West said about Bush concerning the hurricane in N.O., if he tried that in some other land he would of been gone. Its the same old tired worn out race card game, cry and complain and you get it all.

Also, why doesn't Citadel have any Hispanics or African-Americans hosting any of their talk shows?

We can get really nutty now and all act like the moral avengers and protectors of the poor minority. Sorry folks but this is a sad day for commercial radio IMHO.

The New Black Panther member you refer to is Malik Shabazz, a radical civil rights attorney who has appeared on Hannity/Colmes numerous times. He is as radical and dangerous as Louis Farrakhan (who talks of a mother ship hovering over us, among other things) and refers to whiteys as "Devils". Michelle Malkin, filling for O'Reilly did an outstanding job of calling him on his racist views during this segment - she didn't allow him much wiggle-room, IMO.

The question...will Sharpton call for his removal?
The answer...Sharpton would be more inclined to demand Malkin's removal.
 
Better yet, will the FCC call for Shaptons removal for ruining the lives of the duke students, who were falsely accused buy that black liar. Jackson also should be repremanded but it will never happen. Notice I will never use the term Reverend when referring to those two phoneys.

The FCC will not get involved with any of this; doesn't violate their guidelines.

But Sharprton was shouting you can't say that on FEDERAL Regulated Public Airwaves

and NOT one Big Media outlet NOTICED that or checked it out!!!

Will CBS radio NOW say that since the Basketball team accepted the apology
they will hire the I man back?????
