IMUS?

Imus will be back on the air in NY on December 3 . . . lots of reports that the program will be syndicated. Anyone hear about a Providence (or Boston) outlet?

No, but I'm glad he's off a sports station. That never seemed a proper fit for him. I don't think Opie and Anthony should be on "The Score" either. If your station is going to be a sports format than you should keep it all sports. Just my opinion. I think HJJ is the most likely out of any Providence station to air the show when Imus returns.

Have you checked out WEEI's "Dennis & Callaghan" program? Most of the time, they seem to go out of their way to talk about almost anything BUT sports.

Call it dumb luck, or brilliant programming, but WEEI seems to have stumbled upon just the right blend of sports talk and "guy talk" to makle for a winning formula that I doubt will be de-throned anytime soon.

I doubt he'll go to HJJ this time around - considering Citadel has the show. Citadel - Providence will find room for him. Also, I'm thinking they'll probably stick him on Citadel's WBSM out of Fairhaven.

Why would Citadel consider Imus on WBSM. I don't think I've ever heard the morning show but assume it's very local & probably similar to what WPRO does in the morning. Also isn't Pete Braley somewhat of a fixture in that market going back many years? The tone of the morning show would probably be greatly different if they stuck Imus on.

So HILLARY CLINTONS hit squad ' Media Matters' didn't complete the job.
Guess HILLARY will have to have it done the VINCE FOSTER way.
Don't think she wouldn't.. Walter.

Most successful local sports stations don't focus entirely on sports. WEEI is a great example of that, as is WIP here in Philadelphia.

Imus will be on either WPRO or WSKO at some point, probably the latter. I read in one of the trades where Citadel talk PDs are being put on notice that they'll need to make room for Imus.

This could be an easy way to get rid of the underperforming Depetro. If I were John I think I would start looking at other stations just in case the hammer comes down.

Put "The Nappy Head old man" on Hot 106 . Hey, Howard was there .

Howard seemed out of place on Hot 106. Imus would seem 10 times more out of place. But I've got to admit that it's funny to think of a bunch of black chicks listening to Imus on the bus on the way to school when suddenly another racial slur comes out of his mouth. The reaction on that bus would be priceless. But in the land of reallity I believe that if HOT 106 picked up the show, 99.9 percent of current listeners would switch the station.

You forget B101 aired Imus.At the time Eminen (the white rapper) was just getting popular.
Imus played the crap out of "The real Slim Shady".
Kind of Ironic the first time I heard Eminen's "The real slim shady" was on an oldies station.

But anyway who says you cant have a different audience for morning drive. It's been proven time and time again that a station can do something completly different in Morning drive from the rest of the day and still be successful with it.

Yeah they can do it, but certain personalities just don't fit the format. Imus was fine on an oldies station because he's 150 years old. But Imus on an hip hop station? No way. There couldn't possibly be a worse format to air his show than on a hip hop station.

I want to hear Holland's opinion on this one.

OK. Now that we've got THAT taken-care of...

Now, something's wrong with the dang TELEVISION!
EVERY show that comes on is an-hour late.

But seriously...

Three thoughts:

1. As, for instance, the-very-HISTORY-of WPRO (http://630wpro.com/article.asp?id=477905) demonstrates, the fatherly morning icon can do a very different show than the young wise guy chatting-up hot chicks on the request line 7-midnight.

2. The only reason Imus has ANY shot is because, post-consolidation, radio isn't developing enough new talent (http://hollandcooke.com/Imus-return-WSJ.pdf).

3. Imus Act III: the jury's out (http://hollandcooke.com/Imus-return-Reuters-WPost.pdf).

Now please excuse me while I start calling TV stations...

Naturally I'd want to know how O&A are doing & how Imus was doing the last time he was on in Providence, but if it's true that Citadel Providence may be told they have to run him:
Keep O&A on The Score FM
Run Imus on The Score AM until 9
I don't think they'd be competing with themselves
He isn't going on Hot if they're building a morning show & I don't see WPRO AM being anything but local mornings.

You too?

At least this means I'll be early to the radio station this morning.

If Citadel forces the trail to air him WPRO would be a the best fit.As I said before this imaginary line-up would work.

6-9 Imus
9-12 Depetro
12-3 Cianci
3-6 Yorke
6-7 Allen
Which is what they would more than likely do.

With that line up everyone would be happy or pissed off.keeping everyone in the line up and keeping shifts to 3 hours rather than 4.
Dan Yorke sounds like he does an hour pre-show before he really gets going at 3.Actually I've heard him call it a Pre-show.

Yeah that lineup sounds good Kenny.... except for the fact someone pointed out Cianci has commitments and can't work past 1:00 PM. Personally I think it's BS and the only commitment he has is to be sitting in his favorite Restaurant by 2 PM for lunch. But whatever. You still can't force the guy to work later if he already has it in his contract that he won't.

Hey here is a question for those in the know. Imus has worked for two Network owned stations and he's about to work for his third. Has there ever been another radio talent in history who was hired to do a morning show by all three major Networks NBC, CBS, ABC. I think Imus is making history. But technically now that I think of it, WABC is owned by Citadel and not ABC? (Or) have they just combined forces. Now I'm confused.

I'm sure there's a loophole where they canshift Cianci to a 9-12 or 12-3.
Actually Cianci 9-11:45 then would be a better fit with Depetro 12-3.
They are able to dance every one else around.
