In 15 days......

Oh Boy... another CHR???? I can hear it now "The new 100.7 WZXL is THE BLAZE"... that way we can have 20 CHRs in South Jersey... or something to compete with Hits106 in O/M... maybe 105.7 can flip...

Nah, no CHR, I think Jersey has seen enough CHR's but let's just say dance is back at the shore....

I support dance music...I love dance stations...I DON'T BELIEVE YOU AT ALL...you need to give some proof or even the frequency...I don't know who could do it or where it would fit...equity can"t cause of WAYV and KISS...the shark or JSE...nah...milenium...nope unless the changes to 101.5 bring 97.3 back to BOSS 97..(no chance)...I would love it if you were right though

No corporates are involved in this although it's funny that Press hasn't been mentioned. But yea, Press to do a dance station is like Millennium doing hip-hop. You did mentioned frequencies, well, I'll make it fit. It would definitely fit very well if W244AS didn't file for a transmitter there.

I must be a moron cause I can't figure it out...is there a reason you can't just come out and say it?

There's that Burlington County College station that plays plenty of dance music. What's it called ... Z 88.9?

Then there's the Benny Drive-Time Party Hour at 5:00 PM weekdays on Hit 106 ... coming from the frequencies that used to play "Seaside Tony" and laugh at Bennies, now they're celebrating them!

So many stations (even the alleged "adult" ones) are playing rhythmic titles ranging from Britney Spears and Lady Gaga to Ne-Yo and Akon.

I'm still waiting on that refreshing intelligent rock station that provides a welcome change from the Neanderthal offerings that we currently have.

Second Verse Same as the First...

SC its called the sad shape of American culture in this day and age. When MTV launched it was mostly rock, until the Rick James and such complained, now the MTV networks are 100 percent non-rock and urbanic and have been for the last 15 years, where are the complainers now. The only breath of fresh air was Fuse, which is going the same ugly way, btw are they owned by MTV. There is not one full time rock video channel outlet, NOT ONE, why, its not that the audiance is not there, its the plan of the higher ups, who spends the most bucks without thinking. So what can you expect from the youth of today, if they are constantly forced feed this urbanic culture, plain and simple. The suits delagate what they want the public to embrace and it has been anything non-rock for decades. The rock audiance has to search for anything that meets their taste. As you can see in Philly the rock outlets are prospering but a few years ago the suits wanted to make the Philly dial an urban wasteland, its called being unfair, no one can bitch, cut the pie evenly not one sided.

At this point, majority of the FM dials are a Top 40 overload, I assure you if top 40 is played here, it will be with an edge. No way will blaze sound like Hit, Z, Q, Point, Kiss, Now, Amp, Vamp, Power or whatever they are calling these stations now.

In reality the arguement about rock formats is more appropriate when discussing dance. In Philly there are still four rock outlets...how many dance?? Wired or Q play one or two at a time with the pop leaning dance as well(ex Lady Gaga). It is rarely given a chance as a format and even when successful (KTU, even The BUZZ down here when it was all dance the format was switched when the ratings were going up,even though the HIP HOP format was more successful).
As for the MTV example they have consistantly ignored dance videos that were highly sucessful songs on the radio.(ex Cascada Every Time We Touch) When Q102 had Carson Daily syndicated Mel C I Turn To You was in the top 5 requested list for over 2 months...do you think the video was ever on mtv...nope or more recently September "cry" David Guetta "love" and Enur "calabria"..No MTV support..If MTV did support just one of these tracks maybe one would finally be number one on the charts...If Lady Gaga's Poker Face wasn't on MTV it wouldn't be number one right now.

So anyway what is the frequency this is happening on I'm really curious

If it's not a corp radio station, then it's gonna be like 5 watts... I can't think of any real signals that are not in a cluster... and even some clusters have really bad signals... so this is probably a school or non-commercial station that is gonig to be low power at best.... I have heard nothing about it in south jersey... so now let's hear from someone in the know in central and north jersey and I'm betting that they don't have a clue either... I think this thread is providing too much hype and when it hits there's gonna be a big let down.. it's not gonna be 50kw, it's not gonna be 25kw, it's probably not 6 or 3 either.... i'd be looking for a couple of hundred watts if that......

Up and down...watch this be like a pitiful self promotion of a college show or some crap like that...I totally support college radio Z889 does a great job with the dance format and can be heard in S Jersey....but don't put up this thread unless it's on commercial..

D21, is this what you're talking about?

Okay fine, you caught me....the self-promoter is back in the state and I am back in the internet biz. The only reason this was posted here is because I'm launching the station from Oakhurst. I figured everyone wouldve seen the Dance forum and knew what I was talking about.

The days of mattering if its commercial or non-commercial is over. Look at the PPM ratings. WXPN and WRTI on the books and beating commercial stations. Heck a non-com religious station is doing pretty well. Its all about the programming. If you really want a "dance' station, its more likely now to happen on the left end of the dial. Its too risky of a format for a commercial station to flip. You do not have the success stories that are needed to make the format grow. Pulse in NYC with these lease deals in Chicago and LA might have a good option for the format.
