The stations are around Augusta, ME and Bangor, and the principals of Blueberry are Louis Vitali and Bruce Biette - who say they're buying stations they've been listening to for years "right here in our own back yard." No price announced this morning, and here are the station groupings: The Augusta-area regional group is oldies WABK (104.3), news/talk WCME (96.7), sports WFAU (1280), sports WIGY (97.5), soft AC WKCG (101.3), country WMCM (103.3), classic hits WQSS (102.5), sports WRKD (1450) and rock WTOS (105.1). The stations around Bangor are talk WABI (910), country WBFB (104.7), modern rock WFZX (101.7), oldies WGUY (102.1), AC WKSQ (94.5), country WLKE (99.1), talk WVOM (103.9) and CHR "B 97.1" WWBX. Lou is a great guy. How and why he is a partner with a person who has one of the worst records in broadcasting is mindboggling. To those who work with Lou, you will have a good leader. On the other hand, those working with Bruce... look out

I worked with BRUCE BIETTE twice before at WIGY
and WGT Portland...He was One of the "GOOD GUYS"
Will he hire me again?
I can ask...Would love to do Mornings at LUCKY 99
Ellsworth...What a great LOCAL station that could be again!
I have a Lot of Local contacts for sales in Ellsworth
My wife Terri is from Ellsworth
But Bangor would be great too
I'm still the Image voice of KISS 94.5 BANGOR
I've owed my house in BUCKSPORT a year and a half now
and this is Home
Thank God voiceover work has picked up
And I do Local paying cable work for the Town of Bucksport
Going on 8 months on the beach from Radio
Have a great weekend!!

Nice quote, OldPort Wino.

But is this an indication that the existing staffs of all these radio stations: WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN and end up without a job?

I hope lou likes rock... any idea? i'd hate to see what has become known as probably the greatest active rocker in the USA go away...
Im sure their would be several loggers with chainswaws, hippies and Drunk people coming after him who have become to rely on the station over the years
hmm wonder what station I am talking about ::)

Who knows what the future will bring?
Here are a few factoids:

Multi-million dollar debt service
Traditional advertising revenue, off
Recession,on
Gas prices, changing by the hour
Technology, changing by the day

I could go on and on but I won't.
I'm bummin' myself out! :(

Have a great weekend. ;D

LOCAL/INVOLVED RADIO ALWAYS WINS!!
BANGOR AND ELLSWORTH ARE BETTER
FOR 'BLUEBERRY BROADCASTING"
taking over!
I did Mornings at WNSX/ELLSWORTH
for 2 years
A LOCAL LUCKY 99 ELLSWORTH
Could own that market! TOTALLY OWN IT!
AND THEIR BANGOR STATIONS
will do WELL OWNED LOCALLY!
Have a great weekend

Won't Blueberry have to divest? It really looks like they're over the limit.Want to know what Bruce Biette's been up to? Google, Convergent Broadcasting.

While I there, it was understood that the new owners would have to drop two of the stations. I can't remember which two were the likely ones, but I believe that six stations was the max in Bangor that the new owners would be able to keep.

WGUY and WFZX I beleive

it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out, they do need to drop 2 stations and the stations that are in trust are WGUY and WFZX. The real question is does that mean with 2 less stations will the staff be reduced accordingly? With respect to Joe's comments about Lucky 99, when that station was successful it had a dedicated sales team and morning men that went out every weekend to do appearances and most of those were for free, so good luck with that.

"BILLY CHARLES" was THE GREATEST on LUCKY 99
MORNINGS....He Just Connected with the people listening
in a way that few do
I only met him 2 or 3 times when he was
doing mornings and I was on the other side
of the street at WNSX
But he was a really Caring,Good human being!
and it showed on the radio!
That was LOCAL RADIO at its BEST!

One can assume that the new owners will be free to divest any two FM's it doesn't necessarily have to be WFZX and WGUY. I thought I read somewhere though, that there was speculation (and if there wasn't this will probably do it) that given market concentrations in Bangor and Augusta, that there was a chance they may not have to divest any stations. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the FCC filings are
