In Defense of 92.9 the Game

I have finally decided to become a member of this board after reading it for the past few months. I do not understand all the hatred towards the game. I am a female sports fan who has never listened to sports talk before. Since this station came on and I accidentally found it, I have not turned it off more than a few times. The personalities are interesting and intelligent and accomplished in there fields. Those of you who keep talking about the two live stews. If that happens, that would be a huge downgrade and I think they would lose alot of listeners. Today, I decided after reading some of the posts yesterday to try out the other sports stations. Not only can you barely catch there signals, I changed the station on most after two minutes because I was bored out of my mind. I like this station because it talks about topical issues in an entertaining way and you don't have to struggle to understand what there talking about. When David Archer is doing analysis for the Falcons, I think he is terrific but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what a cover 2 is. Also the callers to the game are interesting as well and generally nice people it seems. For those of you who keep saying, why isn't this station gone already, I have to wonder why do you care so much??????

Because there are so many other music formats they could put on that powerful signal

TBH, a nationwide mission to replace music with talk just rubs me the wrong way - we've got Cable TV 24/7

I agree with altantaboy. The Game is a huge waste of a signal and if it were not owned by CBS the format would have been gone by now.

I bet the decision was made by a very high ranking person at CBS radio (1 thru 3) and not by the programmers. CBS Radio does All News and Oldies very well in some of the most competitive markets in the country too. Granted The Fan bills very well in NYC, but this ain't New York City!

I am surprised that the CBS TV News division has not looked at market #9 and say we need an Owned and Operated station in Atlanta to have a good product to lead into the CBS evening news. CBS should swap 69 for 46 or buy 46 outright. CBS has the financial resources to challenge 2 & 5. All new radio on 92.9 would be share the resources and generate some money to help offset the expenses of a first rate local news organization would incur.

Nobody else is going to put all news on the Atlanta dial until and unless 106.7 gets some serious ratings or goes away.
