At 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 15), the subject on KCBS' half-hour "In Depth" program will be the history of KCBS itself.
Melissa Culross interviewed Prof. Mike Adams from San Jose State University this past week for the program. Mike is an expert on KCBS' founder, Charles David Herrold, and is one of his most passionate defenders. One hundred years ago, Herrold and his fledgling station were the first to broadcast programs over the air for a general audience.
Those of us who study radio history -- and who know Mike Adams -- consider him to be Prof Herrold's "lost son"; I think Mike and Gordon Greb know more about Herrold and his legacy than even Herrold would have known about himself.
