This might be an obscure question, but I'll pose it anyway. Does anyone know anything about the in-game reporters that FSR, ESPN Radio, and other sports radio networks have on the line to report on games during sports updates? Are these people also writers for newspapers or magazines? I'd think they they would have some other job besides that, but I wasn't sure. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I doubt they are usually beat writers the top of line so to speak. I read a lot of news online and didn't use to recognize names. Probably writers for smaller papers, neighborhood papers, small time radio hosts, part time guys... I know the stringer in St Louis for either ESPN or Fox was a one time small time radio host named Mark Isman or Eisman.
:Most networks and high profile local stations (like WFAN and WEEI) have a list of trusted people across the country that they always use. They often work for local stations in a small capacity (update anchor, board op etc). You'll hear many of the same names on all the different networks. Craig Heist, John Duffy and Mark Meyers for example.
