It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of Reading and Berks County's amazing personalities. Phil Long, the Proppa Poppa of Doo Wappa, passed away Wednesday, July 16th after a long battle with health issues. Phil lived to entertain and was happiest when on his radio show, TV show or live appearances. His last live broadcast aired July 15th on True Oldies 1340 WRAW-AM in Reading, PA. Phil was a local legend, son of the late country stars Shorty Long and Dolly Dimples. He was a lifetime career entertainer playing keyboards and front man in many recording groups such as The Intruders, The Ethics and the Stylistics. He also played with longtime friend Ron Tyson, now lead singer of the Temptations. Known as “Mr. Entertainment,” Phil organized and hosted fundraising events for financially needy victims of illness or other tragic life events. We will all miss Phil!
