For the past month, I have been contacting various different companies throughout the Houston and surrounding areas to inquire about brokering time to broadcast a radio station. I have been having some difficulties gathering information because I am not completely savvy in the radio business. As most of you know, I am a member and moderator from RockAid.com. One of our other members has a radio station on the air now in Austin County but is attempting to get his signal into the Houston metro area. I have gotten some very valuable information from Mike O., and was wondering if anyone had any more ideas about where to turn to purchase brokered spots? I have found that when I tell them it is a rock formatted station, I am losing them. Or so it seems. KWWJ and KYOK are out. I have called KILE, with little success, and KSEV which flat said no. KGOL only broadcasts Asian, KYST told me we'd have to speak Spanish and run all ads in Spanish and KJOJ said they were sending me a pricing list, but I haven't gotten a thing. I am at a loss, and really need help from someone that has more knowledge than myself. To me, this is a very worthy cause. The men that are running this station are legit. How many radio station owners climb up their own antennas and repair them? How many owners answer their own phones and take requests? I want to see this station succeed, and we want to do it the legal way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
