In need of Syndicated Programming

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of programming that we could pick up for barter on a college radio station. It is a small college station in Manchester, New Hampshire. I wasnt sure if any shows were made for the college audience.

Thanks for your help!

There are many syndicators out there, including Public Radio Satellite System, Pacfica, WFMT, Longhorn radio, Spin Magazine Radio Show, Universal Buzz Radio, to name a few. There are many free programs made for non-commercial stations.

You can start by contacing CBI, Inc. Here is a link:
<a href=http://www.collegebroadcasters.org/programs.shtml>CBI Program listing</a>

The organization is great for stations to be a part of and offers many benefits.

If you are on campus only, ie do not have an FCC licensed statio, then you can try to contact Westwood One, Premiere, and some of the other sydicators, that send programs on CD. In that case, commercials aren't a problem on some of their shows. However, if you are an FCC licensed non-commercial station, then you will have to edit them out, which is not usually desired or allowed by the commercial syndicators.

It also depends on how well you can play the game. If you can promise a syndicator a letter from the school stating the value of the donation, you may get a syndicator to donate the programming (with you removing the spots yourself).

A friend of mine runs our college's (when we went there a few years back) radio station and said he gets donated programming from Westwood One & Zeo Radio.

Both sites will send you an mp3 or CD weekly. It contains one to 2 hours of good syndication content for a college audience. They are free to run.

Also consider a timeshare with other local stations. A good way to increase the audience size of some of your own better programming is to contact other college stations in New England and ask them to do a 1-for-1 switch. You could develop a small free radio network if you establish the right contacts. Since most stations have morning or weekend timeslots going to waste, a timeshare option could help two different program directors fill their schedules at once. Worth making a pitch especially if you find a compatible station willing to put the time into it.
