I have contacted an Administrator and asked that they lock a thread for our fallen radio family of the past year. It's been difficult for a lot of us and I thought this would be a nice way to keep their memories alive. Each of the original posts are linked below. Take a minute to read them over and remember:

Gene Garnes Sr., 81 years of age, formerly of York, Pa. He worked at WLAN-FM as a transmitter engineer in 1946; then went on to work at WSBA AM 910 from 1947-49 as a studio engineer back in the days when they had board ops. From there he went to work at KYW Radio as a studio engineer and in 1951 got hired on at NBC Radio in NYC in the radio engineering department from where he retired in 1988. He's survived by his sons, Gene & Glenn and a daughter, Janine. His son Gene also works at NBC as an engineer.

I send deepest personal condolences to the Garnes family, who I have been friends with since I first worked with Gene Jr. at WNBC-AM in 1986. Peace be with you.

I'd also like to add RAY ST. JAMES to the list. He was one of the first personalities on the air for WQVE-FM - QV-93 - that went on the air in December of '78. He was a-hell-of-a-guy that enjoyed life and his Porsche'.

I saw that yesterday---he's kept a low profile, I didn't know he was still around, honestly. Gotta wonder what he thought of our industry today, and how it has affected his "babies" at Susquehanna Plaza.

Mr. Eberly was at the helm during the historic MIGHTY 910 era from about 1958 through much of the 60's. Many of us fondly remember growing up listening to the GOOD GUYS and collecting those "HITS OF THE WEEK" top 40 survey sheets, which I'm still kicking myself for throwing out. He went on to oversee the transition of the station into Adult Contemporary from the mid 70s through the 80s.

In a day when many of the jocks used bad show prep joke services and tried very hard to be funny...but weren't, Al was a natural. Everytime he cracked open the mike, he was himself. A natural talent that few could measure up to. Rest in peace, Al.

Ditto on all the fond remembrances of Al Wolfe. I worked with him at WFBG in Altoona, then he took me with him to WILK in Wilkes Barre where he was PD. I have no doubt that what I learned from Al helped my success doing the "Good Morning Vietnam" show--the Dawnbuster--after I left WILK for the Army.

Sorry to hear about Al.
Even while I was at Radio York (1996-2008) you never new when he'd show up.
Always with the jokes.

"Al.... I gotta go...." "There were these two guys....."

Should have spent more time listening.
