F.O.:In my simpleton "listener" opinion, and without the ability to forcast the future, once we "Houston" is given something else to be reminiscent of... PROUD of in radio, I must embrace the past. If you've seen other thread replies of mine - I do give kudos to young area talent that I personally deem deserving. However little that base is... or has been for years on tired yawn-filled end. I'm a WASP. I don't speak Spanish, but I'm working on learning it in all of it's dialect. And when I become fluent in those, I will still passionately hate Tejano music. AS I'VE ALWAYS HATED KLOL'S 10 ROCK SONGS AND KIOL'S REPERTOIRE OF MUSIC. I can't pick up that station because I don't have it punched in. I respect the talent there and always shall from wherever they may broadcast. I'm just not a rocker. But Fo, if I'm nothing more, I am a consummate business man. I 'get' the big picture in the true $ence of the words "revenue" and "ratings". What entertainment value has CC added to our hometown market.... ever? Assuming any significant corporados would have better things to do than banter on this rambling webpage, how much of those big CC bucks have landed in your pocket? Exactly. Be a big take-over cheerleader if that's what makes ya feel successful, but don't call NPR applying for an entry-level janitorial position when your job (assuming you are in radio) is farmed out to the next lowest bidder... maybe even to an 18 year old button pusher piping in recordings from Bombay, for one-fifth of your Salary. And eventually, the Chinese will punch those same filthy little buttons for one-fifth the value of a Rupee. If we don't make radio about local personality, then it is only about the commercial$. And that can be done anywhere, globally, and real REAL cheap. Outside of their one sided local TV news broadcast(s), that is what your forward-thinking big monopoly company knows - and is diligently striving toward; even as I pen this lesson. Now if I may, without any further undue commentary - congratulate, appreciate and wish my friend well - he has extraordinary talent as the PRO Imaging Director that he is. Fletch will be missed. There's not a recorded production at either of the two stations that he hadn't had a hand in, or had done exclusively himself. And every spot was NOT the usual, mind numbingly blasé, typical crap that spews from any station in this pathetic unfortunate market.Sadly for me, I've never heard Fletch DJ...... My bad....... "**** & ****" are two of my favorie words; I sure hate I missed that.______________________________________Fo-Fo-Fo-Hye has a new reply to a message:http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Board=houston&Post=709740I'm just curious why everyone in Houston seems to live in the past so much? Filth, I'm not even trying to dog on you or anything, but I just don't get it. Everyone seems stuck in 1986 around here. These personalities haven't been relevent in over a decade, closer to two! I just don't understand it. There was such a huge blow up when KLOL went hispanic, but the station in all reality (ratings and revenue) wasn't even relevant BEFORE Clear Channel took over... and they just kept getting worse. Turn on KIOL and listen (if you can pick it up). There's nothing relevant happening there IN ANY SHIFT. Fletch was the only person on the air that sounded like a good fit for the year 2006._________________Fo-Fo-Fo-Hye has a new reply to a message:http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Board=houston&Post=709736I find it entertaining that the "Anti-corporate" Cume-less fires someone for saying Vagina and Goddamnit on the air. So much for the b.s. that they are the company that's different... Now, how long before he ends up somewhere else in town?_______________________________> About me: (quoted from my_space)> WELL I'VE BEEN FIRED FROM CUMULUS BROADCASTING FOR> INAPPROPRIATE ON AIR COMMENTS.
