"Independence Day" again, it's Hannity

Unless Severin is suddenly using Martina McBride's "Independence Day" as a theme,
Hannity is still on WTKK.

"...sean Hannity is on"

The "vacation" continues.

Yes, the "week off" has been extended. Eventually news will break, via WTKK
(or WBZ!) and will hit the newspaper on Herald Square and the newspaper
just down Morrissey Blvd., once we know for sure where Jay will wind up.
I won't post every day saying "he's still not back" but if I hear about
a decision via those sources (or from just tuning in!), I'll pass it along.

I think this really has nothing to do with the Lehigh column about the
fake Pulitzer--relatively small potatoes here. What IS the main reason
for his absence is undoubtedly the tug of war between GM and Infinity.
You know Infinity would love to put him on 'BZ, but GM still has him till
the end of the year and the Inside Track's "spies" said that GM is the
sole negotiator with him during this contract. HOWEVER bring the lawyers
in and maybe something can be worked out.

How long are these deals with individual stations--one year? So if WTKK
re-signs Severin--agreeing to carry the new show--is 'BZ locked out for a full 12 months, etc.? (Deals are deals, but any deal can be broken...) One wonders
if the new show may have to be pushed back. If Infinity wants him on WBZ
that much, they may wait till the deal is up (which could mean get used to
more Hannity on 'TKK in afternoons, OR a "lame duck" Jay) and then sign him
up in '06...with a show launch to follow nationwide.

Re: Jay Severin

I think the only way Jay Severin will ever be back on WTKK-96.9 is if it becomes the Boston affiliate for his new nationally-syndicated show.

He's not going to be on the air anywhere until his new national show starts.

I think that if his show is broadcast live during the daytime hours, he'll stay on WTKK, although possible in a different time period, depending on when the live feed is. WTKK will even adjust it's daytime schedule to air Severin's national show live, even if it's not in afternoon drive.

If Severin's national show is broadcast live during the evening or overnight hours, then WBZ-1030 will pick it up. But I can't see 'BZ picking up his show if it airs during the daytime hours. Their all-news-during-daytime-hours format is too successful.

For a change of pace, maybe Sean Hannity should use Carrie Underwood's cover version of "Independence Day".

Interesting--I get the feeling Infinity wants him to do 6-9 pm, 7-10 pm,
a slot like that. He wouldn't go up against Rush or Hannity, but maybe
they'd put him on opposite Savage, etc.

I could see that...Hannity till 6, then Severin, then push back Ingraham
to 9-midnight for example.

Agreed on WBZ not wanting to pick up the show if it's or during daytime.
Oh...look what I just found :)

Yup! By the way Sean starts his show off with:
Martina McBride, Independcnce Day
(a classical piece, Wagner-ish)
Bruce Hornsby, "The Way it Is"
(and, during final hour, Survivor, "Eye of the Tiger"
and during the "trash the lines" segment, Fleetwood
Mac, "Dreams")

Severin's theme is called "Heavy" and I think it's by Collective Soul.

Re: Jay Severin

I think I saw Severin's picture on cartons of Hood Milk when food shopping earlier today!

:)

LOL!

Re: Missing

For those of us who don't tune in anyway, it's a moot point.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it
broadcast on 96.9 FM? More important, does anyone hear it even if it does broadcast?

That doesnt make sense, if you dont listen then perhaps you shouldnt be posting on this topic. Severin although not someone I enjoy has great, solid numbers. His abscence is noticed by more than a few.
