Indiana predictions for 2006

Ok gang, let the word go out from Evansville to Ft Wayne. What predictions do you wanna make for 2006?

I predict WDKS will flip formats. Don't ask me what format they'll do.
______________

I predict some changes in Terre Haute with someone trying an "expaned Top 40" format -- sort of like a Jack, but more modern. Mix-FM will do something in responce, possibly broadening the playlist. Hi-99 will lose its news department with Emmis Selling WTHI-TV, so Mix will have that advantage. And I think the Crock will show up in the top 10 12+ in its first Book. Not bad for a rimshot.

I wouldn't hang my hat on that. I'm just saying.

Does anyone think Cumulus will change 104.5 Jack FM in Indianapolis or keep with the format? Or maybe they'll change it back to oldies as "Gold", although I doubt that Gold would flourish like it did originally.

Oldies and Adult Hits seemed to work out on 104.5 FM.

They Could go back to Oldies but it wont be gold as long as the Franklin Rimshot at 95.9 is calling themselves gold and have most of the former Gold DJ's minus Bruce and Eileen. I Think it will stay Jack for a while to see what CUmulus can do with the format. I think before 104.5 flips we will see another flip either 93.9 or 95.9

If anybody flips the big question is, to what? What would be so groundbreaking and revolutionary in Indianapolis radio that would get ratings? Everything has been done and done well here.

For the South Bend--Elkhart listening area.....
With AMP...
1580 AM will drop the format and change as may 102.3 FM again.
1490 AM may change (whose to say if this will occur--just a good wish).

Federated Media: No changes that I can rough guess other than possible tweaks to its stations.

Schurz Comm.: No changes predicted-best guess-wish would be for changes to 99.9 FM that their format would be tweaked to improve ratings or format change and that would be it.

Religious: New translators in: Elkhart, South Bend, and Granger may start up.
WLFQ-LP 98.7 will finally get their studio running and do live programming with DJ's.

Stations will flip formats, tweak their current format or stay the same. That happens every year. I think the big news in 2006 will be HD Radio. It'll be the hot Christmas gift next year.

Just my 2 cents...

Does WLFQ ever plan to stream, or, for that matter, even have a website? I'd like to hear the station, or even see something like a Weekly Top 20/30/40 song list.

Well, you're what, 6kw vs 100kw? They have 20 years of heritage, you have mabye 3 years of experience(the station not you specifically).

I don't wanna speculate on a format, because for a 6kw there's few options available. Country is too covered, AC not likely, CCM not profitable enough, Urban not a given because of racism. Move GBF to 106.1? Mabye, but then that leaves 103.1. Well, could move GBF AM's newstalk format to FM and put the sports talk on AM, but then that leaves 94.9 searching for a new format. Hmmm, mabye a Jill FM(Female Variety Hits). Nah, too WIKY sounding.

See, that's why I'm not making any predictions. Let Regent handle it. They do something stupid, oh well.
______________

I would love to see 1580 get a stronger signal.
I think 102.3 will take on a rock format that will make the complacent 103.9 get off its rear end and add a little more variety and expand their playlist. Kind of like ten years ago when 103.9 flipped from Oldies to rock and put the hurting on 95.3.
