Indianapolis Get A Second CHR: I-94

Looks like I called it yesterday on the Indi board when I'd suggested Warm 93.9 might go CHR. Keep in mind though that this is a Cumulus-owned property, which means you'll hear more Reucrrents than currents in a typical hour. Good name though as the I in I-94 is obviously should for both Indiana and Indianapolis. Musically I'd say the station is positioned somewhere betweeen 100.9 Radio Now and Z-99.5 so keep your eyes out for both stations in the coming months to see how they react to this developement.
 
Personally, I think they are positioned to go after WZPL more than RadioNow. Sounds very Adult CHR.

It is a Cumulus station, and most of their mainstream CHR's tend to lean adult/recurrent. I actually don't think some of Cumulus's CHR's sound that bad though, element-wise. It's just that if you are looking for stations that are quick on new music, you will be dissapointed. (I tend to like the elements and presentation better on some of Cumulus and Citadel's CHRs, but musically, Clear Channel's CHR's are ususually better, but more bland in presentation. This of course is a big generalization and doesn't hold true across the board. One of my favorite radio companies overall though as far all formats goes is Entercom. I think most of their stations sound great overall and I tend to like most of them.). Anyway, I'm off topic and rambling. :)

CHRles im not bad mouthing WNCI. Im Just saying that I94 is dayparting like WNCI has in the past ive listend to NCI when ive been in columbus. you here more of an Adult lean during the day and then more rhythmic at night. I94 is seemingly doing the same thing. At least Radio Now stays young and Rhythmic with some rock tracks all day and Z99.5 is all Adult lean all day with some Rhythmic thrown in even if WZPL refrains from playing rap verses in songs that have them. Heck WLBC out of Muncie is Hot AC and they Play songs that have rap verses all the time. Im Not sure how CC is on playing Katy Perry's Hot N Cold when it comes to the B****/Girl versions on the PMS like a line.
 
Not bad, but I can do without the Don's guns commercial on top of the regular over the air broadcast commercials on the streaming audio. Boy, that really reminds the listener I'm listening to an Indiana station. ''It's gettin' bad in Indianapolis and you need a gun, so come to Don's guns to arm yourself'' YIKES! That literally was the first commercial I heard. That will really show those Europeans and Asians listening on line that America not a dangerous place!!!! ::)
