What an interesting book, FMS still in 1st place, followed by HHH, 1070, Q, and B105. Looks as though the top 5 favs of the market are country, hip-hop, newstalk, classic rock and soft rock. I heard the rumors about TPI going "oldies", doesn't make any sense since the oldies station flipped to "Jack". According to some to the research gods, that demo is supposed to be done, guess that goes to show you can't always totally rely on research, as anyone in the business can well agree. I imagine at Emmis there was celebration with 3 stations in the top 7 although Radionow didn't make it. Speaking of Radionow, maybe they should go straight after HHH and try to cut those numbers in half, couldn't be much worst than they are now. When I was in Indy Radionow was a really strong station, what happened? This board seems awfully quiet for the day after the numbers came, any thoughts?

What would you do if you owned TPI, and or Q, could it be the ending of an era with B&T? One more thing, any info on how the specific dayparts did?

TPI- Stay the course.. They get alot of listeners from being on in businesses as background. This does not get noted in Arbitron..but can be a strong selling point.

FBQ- B&T are too entrenched through Premier Networks and CC. However, how are the numbers since MadDog and Laura Steele switched shift. If they are tanking, I would think some new blood may be in order there ( I don't think of Gunner as "New blood". Out of market, Yes!)

Jack FM- Run a jukebox of oldies on HD-2. Promote it, to the point of selling head units at a discount. Give 1 year to see what happens.

Hank FM- Wouldn't celebrate just yet! Lets see when the new-ness runs off. Remember, Emmis likes to fix things are aren't broken.

Someone needs to take a fresh look at Radionow, and remember that their competition isn't zpl, it's hhh.

And they are playing these coming up music promos.. where the jock says heres what you'll hear this hour.. efx .. bite .. efx .. bite.. efx right into commercials. Hey, I'm in the era of instant gratification, I want those songs and I want them now.. not after your stupid commercial break.

Thank god someone finally said it!! Damn I'm a hip-hop dj and listen to hip-hop 90% of the time...even I can't stand listening WHHH. WHHH is ghetto as hell (music wise), especially at night...BUT...their programming is fun, they always rotate new music in and they interact with the streets (WHICH IS VITAL...YOU HEAR ME PROGRAM DIRECTORS?!?! MUSIC DIRECTORS?!? STATION MANAGERS?!?! ITS V-I-T-A-L!!!) Especially in this day in age where people have such easy access to mp3's and satellite radio!! Playing music just doesn't cut it anymore!! WAKE UP!! That's true in all markets where hip-hop and rhythmic is played! Everybody wonders why WHHH does so good and it's because they are in the streets and clubs at least 5 times a week! Showcasing their dj's, showcasing their on air personalities, throwing concerts and partys, doing what a radio station (especially hip-hop and rhythmic) is supposed to do!

Back to Radio Now...the only time I can stand to listen to Radio Now is during their mixshow segments with Dj Orion at night. He keeps a good mix of everything and makes the station actually worthy of street credit at night. The morning show is GARBAGE!!! Most of the crap they play all day is the same music over and over, repeating the same song too close together, and yes the commercial teasers are kinda far-stretched...dont tell me what you're about to play, get your commercials over and get to the music already! When radio now does in-club events, all they do is drag their wack morning show crew to the same bar every weekend to hang out..Ok, nobody likes your mornings how (as numbers have proved) what makes you think its a big deal to hang out with those guys? I've seen Marco many times sitting at the bar by himself getting paid to be there. How about you throw a PARTY...with GOOD DJS...with GOOD MUSIC...with GOOD PROMOTIONS AND GIVEAWAYS...with LIVE REMOTES?! Radio now would be best off to get off the lap of WZPL and switch to a completely rhythmic station. I know i'd listen to them more if they had more hip-hop (not ghetto thug crap all the time) and less punk rock and soft depressing music...

just my 2 cents...
