Indians back on WBNS

Per Common Man and the Torg, aka Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson, WBNS is once again the Columbus radio home of the Cleveland Indians. Looks like the games will be on 1460. All I was able to find was a Twitter announcement from Lori Schmidt.

Doesn't shock me.. Makes sense to run them on 1460 ... their not doing much else with that station right now -- cutting away to Indians will help pull people there at least.

What happens to the coverage of Buckeye Baseball games? That was given as the reason as why 1460 couldn't carry the Tribe last season.

Good question. Can't say I know the answer. In the past, the games might have gone to 820, but that won't happen now.
Also have to note that only two people have replied so far. Maybe the Indians aren't such a hot commodity here.

I have noticed that Major League Baseball is usually on lower rated radio stations outside of home markets. The Reds are on a station (WYTS) that gets a 0.2 and the Indians are on a station (WBNS) that gets a 0.4 rating (December figures). The Reds used to be on 610 years ago and the Indians did not last long on 97.1 - possibly due to declining interest in general?

I don't remember the indians ever airing on FM ... or was that short? I thought the FM stayed with ESPN while the AM ran the games?

With the exception of WTVN "AM Radio" is pretty much dead in this market.

One thing with the Reds in this market is that the presence of WLW sometimes overrides any Columbus station carrying the Reds. I remember listening on 700 even when 610 aired games.
As for the Indians, I do remember some games airing on 97.1 in 2009. I didn't move back from Texas until November of that year, so I can't speak to whatever rhyme or reason there was, if any.
