Indians stick with WBNS

Indians really did not have any other choice than BNS except for maybe WVKO--but more than likely that was not a real world option. WMNI just dumped them and Clear Channel here has their eggs in the Reds basket. Even with "the Fan" refusing to air day games and pre-empting the first hour of certain games for Buckeye call-in shows--the Tribe had to stick with them to have any Columbus radio coverage.

I don't know. Talk FM would have been a good fit too.

Well all, let's not confuse this tread please. We're not talking about fit or what the Indians would have rather had, we're talking about options and BNS was the only station that wanted them. As for WVKO, not to mention uncertain future, they want and probably will have the Clippers. I have lived in this market for most of my life, and I can tell you without a doubt that we have always been the first to pre-empt or just not carry at all. The Indians have had a long, and I do mean LONG history of being shuned in this market.

my guess is that this is tied to OSU football rights in the Cleveland market. It has nothing to do with what is best for the Indians or their Columbus fans. oops, buckeye rights in cleveland are held by 850 these days. clicking the post button without my brain engaged again. good thing there's no law against idiots here. i'd be doing life

Johnny: Don't think so. Last I knew, Buckeyes were on 850 am and not a Clear Channel outlet. CC I believe is responsible for the radio network.

Clear Channel has nothing to do with the Indians network. All broadcast rights are held by the Indians organization and those deicsions are made there. Likewise, there is no connection with the Buckeyes network and the Indians or their affiliate stations. WKNR is the Cleveland affiliate. Most likely reason that WTAM is not stems from the fact that if you take OSU Football you have to take Basketball too.... and that would result in too many conflicts with Cavs, Indians, and Browns.

Doesn't matter that BNS has resigned them. Can't hear them anyway. Their nighttime signal sucks. Why do you think they have OSU sports on the FM. Go to the internet to hear the games if you a real big Indian fan.
