Indy CCM

Since Susquehanna is for sale, do you think the buyer will want to keep contemporary Christian music on the 93.9 frequency? Will they simply want to sell the station?

I'm sure they'll keep it. Format decisions remain to be seen.<P ID="signature">______________

No they'll move it to 107.9 for better coverage.

Sorry to hear Crawfordsville didn't work out. Didn't know where you were now?

The company has made it clear to those interested they want to sell the group as a whole. They get more money this way.

The station has said "We are not a ministry" which means their interest in the format is not to become a mission but to bring money in the door. IF they do both I suppose this is good, like past CCM stations here.

Some people had this mistaken thought that the last Indy CCM station was a mission. On air staff told the listeners who ahd been fooled things like : "We lost our lease" making listeners (sheep) think the staff had nothing to do with the sale of the station; and "We'll be back" making listeners think another "lease" was possible.

The problem in kiloing off WXIR was that none of the staff would get the big payoffs if the sale to Disney was cancelled because foolish listeners complained about it. So on air it was tricky..keep listeners in teh dark and keep the sale to Disney going. Listeners weren't even told about the sale until the Radio Disney equipment was in palce.

Unless the station (The Song) was a part of a non profit group whose charter was to do what they were doing it is a format and not a mission. It was a good "radio move" to fill a hole.

They may be nice people who work there (no questioning the staff motives) but it is a job.

When (or if - look at the legal problems the big S has now and their earnings) the sale takes place then this will be changed to 1) oldies; 2) Classic Rock to cancel WKLU; or 3) Another format.

Unless Davkid Kennedy (President) gets his group together to buy all the stations.

THe Song is doing better than any other format ever on the 93.9 frequency, Easy Listening, Jammin Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Country, and 80 Oldies. Retro was a Low to Mid 1 Station while the Song is in the high 2's i believe

Attention to accuracy department: When Panache Broadcasting LMA'd the station from Mary Weiss the station switched format from easy listening to the ABC 24/7 format of Solid Gold Soul and actually was pulling some decent numbers.

Must have been that superb engineering effort that was made one fine Saturday afternnon as I recall.....Actually it sounded pretty decent considering that audio was fed from the WTLC studios downtown through a phone line...wonder if Hollywood Hernandez is still doing that night shift?

While the numbers aren't that good, they have perhaps the best audience an advertiser could like. They are loyal, they listen, and they patronize. Trust me, The Song isn't hurting one bit.

Excellent memory IndyDan and again, thanks for your help! If memory serves correctly ABC merged Solid Gold Soul and The Touch formats. No more Hollywood! No more Super J either...but he was a victim of his own ego.
