Ok there Semperfi.... I dont know u, and likley will never care to know u, but lets play ur game and peel the onion here since u know so much:
1. I'll start off with ur comment about "Needing" Abitron to get agency business... ROTFLMAO!!!!! Ur Kidding Right? Never did that station get bought for its #'s nor did it ever get sold to me in that manner. When "New Management" came in and "re-imaged" the stations as u put it, is when its value to me and most volume businesses went out the door with the old staff. So did it's listener value. Ever see a Radio Latina remotes 3 years ago? WOW!
Oh and sell that P2 0.6 ...... A DUMB STATEMENT u made there bucko. Fringe stations dont sell that way (when they are sold smart) especially Hispanic. That was another Russ Oasis mistake @ 101.9. He and B-boy over there kept trying to sell it on numbers and got away from selling its value and "perception" of value. As soon as the numbers dipped he was screwed! Oh and have you ever noticed the N/A by the Hispanic percentage of population for "Not Applicable" meaning dont exist! We know there isnt any Hispanics in Central Indiana LOL - N/A. Nuff said.
So To Spell It Out For You: Hispanic formats ARE great formats because you dont need #'s. You sell the perception.
2. The only time "Consultants" are truly needed is when you dont know enough about your own market to begin with r need the write off. Oh, and when the consultant is a friend.... OOOPs, I shouldnt have said that.
3. Promotions Director, Good Job, doing what? Looking pretty? Again.... ROTFLMAO! Bring in a festival organizer instead of keeping it in house and keeping the money in the position that is doing "such" a "Good Job". Heee Heee Hardy Har! Besides killing off what was probably one of the most $$$ successful NTR events in Central Indiana radio that no one in radio really ever noticed has got to be Barnetts biggest sucesses. Why you ask? Because if any of the real signals in this town (or Oasis) ever would have noticed, they would have picked up this format, Barnett, and the festival scene and ran with the dollars.
4. Money out for PD. NOT! More than enough local talent in town and already in station. Just another Russ blunder.
5. Logo change but keep the name.... Stupid! If your gonna re-image, then re-image. Again ROTFLMAO. Soon I wont have an ass left. Especially if you truly knew the use of Radio Latina name in Hispanic countries. Keeping that name and attaching it to a Regional Mexican format makes it even more ridiculous. Feeling any more educated yet there bucko? Need more, I can go on for days..... Did ya like my Russ Oasis bit in #1. Too bad Mark Clark got outta that station. Q would have been in bigger trouble and Jack well, it wouldnt be jacking around any longer, we would of had 3 Xmas stations this year.

6. The AM needs help and you'll give me that much. WOW! Talk about understatements!
7. All of the Sales People Can Sell..... I cant breath... someone call 911..... What a Hoot! No real offense to a couple of folks there is meant but COME ON. Those stations and the sales people havent made any real money since Barnett got the boot'ola. Dont get me wrong, I am not a fan but he sure did keep the creative edge and Oddly Enough made it all happen without the magic of Arbitron numbers.
8. I really shouldnt be educating u for free... But here it goes. Billboards to reimage, or because of New Mismanagement. Brings about a question for you. How many Mexicans listners in this town went oooooo, look, a Billboard I think I'll tune in. Your statement is just stupid. Or better yet, how many agency buyers and business owners went ......ooooo look a Radio Latina Billboard, when I get back to the office I'll place a buy because they dropped 200,000 on billboards to make me go oooooo! The Hummer was BRILLIANT! After Barnett had that done in a full wrap everyone in town noticed it more than all the Billboards @ $60,000 compared to the 200k to 250k for the billboards and you get to keep the Hummer, the Billboards now have 101.9 Oldies on them now (ROTFLAMO AGAIN!!!).
Oh why go on... It really doesnt matter. Me typing Blah Blah Blah Blah has about the same effect.
Lastly and probably more importantly
Barnett burnt no bridges other than a few in the Hispanic community that were all manipulaters and free skates just sucking at the heals of the success
he created! He made a few mistakes and then he got burned, so get ur facts str8 there bucko. U dont know chit and are a prentender to the throne of his creation. He took two nothing loser crippled stations that had ZERO and made them into $$$ makers without consultants, billboards, promotion directors and by his direction had nothing but a sales staff loyal to getting paid!
Say that. As a matter of fact macth it! Hell just get close.... Say what u want, nay say and tell us how Brilliant u are but the fact is in the
$$$ made. Not even you can say that revenues are even a third of what they were when Barnett was there, and THAT my friend is the tale of the tape. You can say what u want about Arbitron and Billboards and Good Jobs and PD's Needed but the reality is
NO MONEY being made to even get close to matching the debt! Thats the truth of it. Tic Toc... Tic Toc!
