Infinity WILL NOT suffer....

Infinity will not suffer if their decision making mistakes cause listeners to defect to satellite. Only until satellite and regular radio are rated based on the same pie will Infinity have anything to worry about. Infinity will only suffer if listeners listen to another AM/FM station, otherwise those listeners effectively disappear and aren't factored much into the ratings picture.

The disagree factor is applicable to the idea that they are indeed suffering in the end because people DO come back IF there is a designated reason to do so, and if they refrain from adding local content to their programming line up, or (prefrebly not) some form of Non local filler that gets people to tune in at a specifit time then tune out again, an ad can run in that spot to generate better revenue.

The listeners of lack of are factored in to the ratings picture, at least the last time I heard. It's called CUME.

Stations don't always live and die by CUME. Also, if Stern listeners (who often tune out after Howard) suddenly discover and use satellite, CUME will go down for many stations, not just Infinity.

Re: Infinity WILL suffer....

Terrestrial Radio is a dinosaur. Infinity will decline and Clear Channel...well they are pretty much screwed anyway

The Three E's, local information and all, are current proof that Terrestrial radio is not yet a dinosaur. Some days, I'm just too busy in the morning to fiddle with the radio dial, or go back and forth between radio and XM or sirius, or internet, or whatever.
As mentioned before, I want to be both entertained, informed, and hear some music (in the morning) without having to fiddle with the radio dial, instead of (example only) my hair or appearance, or what ever.

Waking up and listening to XM or sirius leaves out important local detail that may help me along with my day. I hope it's not just me.<P ID="signature">______________
