Info about The John Gary Show

When I was a very young kid (probably 6 or 7), my parents liked watching "The John Gary Show". I believe it was a musical variety show. What made it interesting to me was I distinctly remember the show liked to show "backstage" angles, often showing the cameras, monitors, and other technical equipment in the on-air shots. Am I hallucinating? I've wondered about this show my entire life, as it helped form my interest in broadcasting.

Brooks & Marsh:

June 22-September 7, 1966 summer replacement for The Danny Kaye Show
(CBS, Wednesday 10/9).

John Gary also had a Syndicated Variety show for 3 years starting in 1968, produced through WGN and Scripps Howard..WEWS Channel 5 in Cleveland carried it..Here's a biography at John Gary's Family's website

Music will play on startup..

In New York, his show was carried for awhile on WPIX Channel 11. (No surprise there, given that WPIX was, and is, WGN's sister station.)

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure it was the CBS summer replacement that I am remembering. Does anyone else recall the backstage look of the show?
