info wanted

i just got a copy of a barry msguire lp that has a stamp for wplo fm on it. after a little research i found out wplo fm was in atlanta. anyone know the frequency and what years it was on the air? this record is from the 60s but i dont know what year.

WPLO-FM & AM were owned by Sherring Plough (spelling probably wrong). The FM call letters were changed to WVEE and became V-103. Hope that helps.

Uh, wow... does the
>>barry msguire lp that has a stamp for wplo fm on it<<

(I'll have what HE'S having)

I worked for WPLO AM-590 back when it was country under Plough and WPLO-FM, now V-103 was a progressive,(under-ground) type rock format and was reel to reel and cart automation using the Spartamation pin system. This was in the 70's around 73 or 74. I remember the FM was cool with some really good jingles.

no it doesnt have eve of destruction on it. this one is barry mcguire and the doctor. it has a stamp but not the frequency. promotional copy--not for sale. white label. was (is) v103 a country station? when i was there i remember 1 station on 2 frequencys. 103/ 106.7?

Try 104 and 106.7, WYAI and WYAY. One of the first single market simulcasts, possible under the Rules of the day because the city grade signals almost, but didn't quite, touch in downtown Atlanta. The T-shirts had "Y106 and 104" on them.
Interestingly, they had the currently longest running morning jock in town, one Warren "Rhubarb" Jones, who's still doing mornings on 106.7. He's closing in on McKee's record for longest in the AM I believe.
