Infomercials on Super Sunday?

Driving around at noon on Sunday I clicked over to 100.5fm expecting to hear some football talk. Instead I heard a Purity Products snake oil infomercial. I know those things are a staple of weekend programming on the AM dial, but will FM listeners put up with that junk? And how does CBS think they're going to compete with the Lotus sports stations when they don't even show up on the biggest sports day of the year?

I didn't hear any sports this weekend on 100.5. Could it be that they dropped sports on the weekend for a pure simulcast?

Totally agree about the infomercials. I realize it's easy money for the sales department but it's radio at it's very worst. It's so bad I could see it driving listeners away from radio alltogether.

Jay,

I didn't think to click over to 840am, but going to a pure simulcast seems like a reasonable explanation. It still doesn't make sense to me that they would make the switch on this particular weekend. Seems to me that a live remote from a sports book would be easy money, too.

I just checked kxnt.com and there was no mention anywhere about sports, so Jay is probably right.
