information on oldies 700 wanted

yesterday on my way back to huntsville from panama city, i saw a billboard advertisement in dothan about oldies 700. i tuned in and listened until almost troy, then began listening online when i got home.

its a wonderful station and reminds of the way radio used to be. who are the people behind this? i cannot believe its clear channel but i think i heard something about it being clear channel 700.

no matter who owns it, i would like to talk to the manager and congratulate them on a fantastic radio station. even the commercials were wonderful.

id appreciate some information before i call them. in fact, i cannot call them as there is not a listing for oldies 700 with directory information. what are their letters?

No, not big-C Clear Channel (tm, inc., etc.) owned, just a old-fashioned way of saying that they are on a lower-case-c clear channel frequency.

This TV clip from a previous post may enlighten you:

Obviously this is not a case of which came first, the chicken or egg. Clear Channel, the company took it's name from Clear Channel, the coveted signal.

I had to go to Atlanta last week and saw the billboard too....really enjoyed listening to them too. Especially the bits where all the jocks sing. It is a really neat radio station. The area in Dothan where Dothan High School is on S Main has so much power line noise I couldn't listen to them or 560....someone in Dothan needs to talk to the power company about their dirty power lines in that part of town.

I guess I'll volunteer for that. I will go have a listen and then call the city.
MAYBE they will care.

The station is owned by Jack and Lovey Gale. Jack Gale is a legendary Top-40 morning man from the 1950's and 60's in markets such as Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, NC and Jacksonville, FL. He is doing the morning show on Oldies 700, and it's the same show he was doing back then. He's been semi-retired in Florida doing voice-overs for years, but has been itching to get back on the air. And now he is. He still has the passion and it shows. The station is on line at www.oldies700.net

jack gale a great radio guy see his web site jackgaleradio.com

I listen to them everytime I get near Dothan...a great station....reminds of me of radio when I was growing up....don't know anything about them though.
