Initial thoughts on "The Drive"

Got a chance to listen to "the drive" this morning for a couple hours and I must say that I like this format a lot more than WVOR's mix (70s-today) format. Musically, the music isn't much different except for the fact that there are a lot more currents getting played now that are on the Hot AC chart, than WVOR played before (Dani Carlifronia, Love and Memories, All Messed Up) They even played the Fray's Brand New Single "How to Save a Life" and KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See" before the song even charted. Name the last time that happened with WVOR. While I heard a couple songs from the late 80s on the station, the vast majority of the music is now late 90s/2000s. The station is basically now more of a modern AC/AAAish than a Hot AC which for this town, may be a ratings winner. Anyone that likes todays pop rock without hip/hop, boy bands, and rap will love this station

I like the new format as well. The previous format was too broad; too much old stuff from the 70s. Clear Channel also owns another Mix station in the Uitca/Rome market and in comparing the music played on both stations, the Utica Mix station was programmed better; songs from the 80s 90s and now unlike the previous Mix Rochester format.
