InnovAntenna 17 element FM yagi

Anyone else using one of these? I replaced a storm damaged APS-13 with one and the gain and reflectivity seem to leave the APS-13 in the rear view mirror. Memphis on 87.7 at 375 air miles has been a somewhat regular visitor since it was installed a couple of days ago. Built VERY well.

Weaknesses...the elements are not marked as clearly as they could be, the manual leaves something to be desired and the rubber tips on the element ends tend to get knocked off easily. But the antenna itself is a winner so far.

What a beautiful antenna, and with the weather we're having this afternoon (Sat), I wonder what you are hearing?

What is the furthest constant & reliable signal you are receiving so far?

I thought I was going to answer that with WSGS/Hazard,KY on 101.1 but there's a lot of storm activity between here and there, plus Cincinnati is very strong tonight and WSGS is simply not there--very unusual. So I guess I'll have to say the 3000 watter in Chicago on 87.7 is the current winner for always being there.

I'd love to try out a 17-element FM antenna. I'd probably get 200 miles or more on that thing, 24/7.

If I had something like that in Manistee, I bet WAXX, WBCV, WMQT, CJQM, and WBCT would be in 24/7 if I was pointing right at them.

Nice antenna....I sure enjoyed my ten-element Radio Shack many decades ago.
I'd love to have a place out in the country, and a couple of these.

How does this thing go together?
I'm wondering if it's something that can be taken apart and reassembled easily, for something like mountaintop DX'ing, site tests, etc.....or just packing it away in the storage closet from time to time.

Kenglish, where did you have your ten-element Radio Shack at? And, what was the farthest you could get daily on that big antenna? I suppose with a 17-element here in Western WA, Portland would come in 24/7 and likely KDUK 104.7 as well from Eugene.

crainbebo, before all the Docket 80-90 drop ins, I could regularly get WMBI 90.1 Chicago, WFMR 96.5 Milwaukee, WLPX 97.3 Milwaukee, WIXX 101.1 Green Bay, and WJML 98.9 Petoskey, all over 200 miles, on a fairly regular basis. Some have changed call letters.

I used to have an APS-13 antenna on top of a house in northern VA, sometimes bringing in very difficult, weak DX even from WNCI Columbus, OH once, and I almost never get any FM DX from the west side of the Appalachian mountains. The antenna was not in very good shape when it arrived but I used it anyways, and was damaged by high winds.
