Inquirer 'Jack' Article Monday

Did anyone notice the Inquirer ran an article in news section 1 yesterday "Out With The Oldies in NY"? It was an AP story - just like cutbacks in radio today, they could have had a local writer enhance the article to "localize" it to discuss how "Jack" is "Ben" here, how we still have an Infinity oldies station WOGL, and the possible future of oldies radio here with OGL and WPEN - but they just ran the wire story.

The article said "there are currently about a dozen stations nationally using the Jack format" - isn't that a low estimate - it seems like I've read of a lot more than that.

VarietyHits.com lists 55 of these stations in the US alone. Maybe the article incorrectly looked at only stations with the name "Jack," which would also explain why the local connection with Ben was passed up.
