Inqy Radio Log

Anyone notice the Inquirer "updated" their Friday radio dial listings last week? They did catch up on some stations (they had still been listing WSNJ at 107.7 AND WRNB at 107.9), still behind on some (1290 still WJBR, oldies WPAZ as "Easy Listening", brokered WNJC as "News/Talk/Sports", etc.) but they added a couple abbreviations that might be confusing to the non-radio geek:

WDAS-FM is listed as "Urb. adlt cntp." (while competitor WRNB is listed as "Adult R&B"), WXPN is "Adult alb. altern."

I don't think in all the years they've done these lists they've ever been 100% right - actually they are fairly accurate now compared to previous lists.

The June 9th listing in the Courier-Post in South Jersey still shows "107.7 FM WSNJ Bridgeton (variety) simulcast 1240 AM," but 1240 isn't listed in the AM column. To not list 1240 is understandable since it's out of range for a large part of the Courier's primary readership in the tri-country area. What's surprising, however, is the omission of 107.9 WRNB. Wasn't that licensed to Pennsauken, which is right in the heart of the Courier's coverage area? Other omissions from the list are 92.1 WVLT and the new 103.9 which come in loud and clear.

Could be just the Paper not caring about radio in general.
Radio is their competion so they have no incentive to get things right.
Someone will have to write to them and tell them what is going on in radio...or they won't print the corrections. Someone from these stations should have written already.

That's a good point. I don't think they care about television either, since some of the cable channels don't get listed at all. I guess they figure there's no need to list what's on every single channel when most people probably channel-surf with the remote to see what's on.
