insane HD radio prices

Well, he is considering best offers.

I need a new doorstop. I'll start with a nickel.

I have one that is brand new in the box - never opened. Really. I'd cheerefully take take half of that price.... ;D

In all honesty----

If I only knew that Sony XDR-F1HD's would command the eBay prices that they are commanding, I think I would have bought a bunch at Amazon when they were $85 (like mine). There's another r-i member who feels the same way.

As for this one in the OP's link, I'll pass. :)

If that Sony didn't lose memories when the power goes out, and if it didn't run hot, I'd love to have one for half of $85. I actually have a need for a stand alone tuner because the tuner in my old bedroom receiver crapped out. And in the bedroom is where my personal computer resides, and where I tend to listen to HD radio the most.

Same here, but unlike the OP's link which will probably never sell at that price, there are XDR-F1HDs that have sold for over $300, some new ones even sold for $400. I should have bought several extra when they were still in production, would have made one good investment.

These and the Sangeans aren't selling at ridiculous prices because they are HD. They are selling because they are excellent DX Tuners as reviewed on the FMTunerinfo.com site.

The Sony performs well for analog FM DX (I guess, I'm not an FM DXer) but it is a cheap little user unfriendly plastic POS like most new electronics are.

I would take it off his hands - and only charge him half of the warranty price for it.

This guy's got a "make offer" button....maybe we should all sign in and offer less than $20 each?

;D
I hope you mean HE pays us the $20 to take them off of his hands.

That's a good idea I'm going to do it now, although I think 20 bucks is way too much.

I just offered 99 cents, it wouldn't let me bid 2 cents.

Why is radio-info better than eBay?

Reason #1:
Radio-Info lets you put in your 2 cents. :)

He was insulted by my $75 offer, and it IS for just one piece, not a dozen.
Maybe, you should have offered to accept $100 and free shipping.

HD radio isn't an antique yet.
Those radios that have triangles on 640 and 1240 don't even sell for as much.
