Insensitive and transphobic comments on Glenn Beck talk show (Reader's Digest condensed style post)

Fantastic.

This is talk radio

C'mon. Glenn Beck's job is not to be sensitive. His job is to get an audience. Controversy sells. He knows what his audience wants. This is show biz. Maybe you'd be happier listening to NPR.

You posted a very lengthly item on some boards (plus links) and short versions elsewhere (including here). What's the point? If you've got a complaint, go to somebody who can do something about it. Otherwise you're just wind-bagging - just like Glenn Beck, only he gets paid for it.

"Insensitive" and "transphobic" comments

Transphobic? Now I've heard it all. It's gotten to the point in this country that you're expected to openly embrace every form of deviant behavior, no matter how small the population, or you're labeled a [SUBJECT]-o-phobe. As for "insensitive" ... where will it end? This is the real world. If someone says something you don't like, you can't go running home to mommy. On how many boards have you posted this? I've seen it on two so far. If you don't like Beck -- don't listen.

As my Gramma used to tell me: when people like Beck make inane comments, just consider the source. Ignorant people make ignorant commentators/talk hosts.

Re: "Insensitive" and "transphobic" comments

Sorry, wrong number. The poster said nothing about "openly embracing every form of deviant behavior" or even embracing your narrow definition of what should be considered "non-deviant" behavior. The poster, if I interpret the message correctly, is simply asking for the display of some basic human decency--something often in short supply from the often sanctimonious and hypocritical Glenn Beck. That's all...nothing more.

Umm, I would say he bags on himself enough. Hardly would call him sanctimonious... of course, Sean Hannity talking to "the heartland" and then flying to station events on private jets isn't hypocritical.

Of course, Glenn has said things before that people objected to (usually taken out of context), and he's rewarded with a TV show. Maybe the boring RW talkers like Hewitt, Larson, or Medved shouldn't be so friendly. Keep talking about Beck and more people will start listening.

So what?

Life is just a series of offensive comments, get over it.

Good point. And if you're transgendered, is talk radio really the best place to not be offended?

Precisely...and when all you lazy, greasy Latinos, and wife-beating Italians are offended, just remember what legend_city told you all. Same goes for the hard-drinking Irish, the goat-loving Greeks, the mentally challenged Polish, and all you unnamed swarthy, nasty smelling types out there as well. So, all you black folk, grab hold of your malt liquor and drink a toast to Glenn Beck. Just don't shoot me, ok?

And they said that a child of two mentally-defective first-cousins wouldn't be able to write a quasi-coherent message on RI. Well, dude, you proved them to be wrong. ;=)

(Just kidding; that's some funny stuff you wrote)
