Why is it that when a station is going down, the PD is the last one to get canned? Seriously, how many more formats need to be run into the ground before upper management realizes that the PDs have no clue. Oh, that's right, upper management has no clue either.

  • Budget? Oh, that's when we spend more money than we bring in right? And we save money by hiring bad people because the good people are actually worth something.
  • "Hey, PD, the link on the website to that event is wrong." "Oh, it is on-air personality, I didn't know that. I never go to the website."

"Hey, did you hear what happened yesterday, PD?" "No, I didn't, on-air personality, because I don't listen to this station."

"Hey, PD, will you please send out that e-mail to get programming, marketing, IT, NTR, promotions, sales, engineering, interns, and techs together that way when when something goes wrong no one is to blame because no one knows what their responsibilites are?"
"Hey, PD, am I ever going to have the review I was supposed to have seven months ago?"
"No, on-air personality. If I completed your review, you'd be up for a raise."

For being a communications company, I am handing the radio industry the "WOST COMMUNICATIONS" award. If you express your worries, you're seen as a trouble maker. Any suggestions?

PD probably has a contract saying "In event of termination, you get $43,000 lump sum" (number completely made up)

I don't think it's for a contract or lack of wanting to get rid of the PD. If we're talking about the same place, it's because the current PD spins the music and does the morning show. That's it. The GM doesn't know how to program and the rest of the people who are still there don't have the time to program it, so they keep him...let's call him Adam...in place so he can go through the phases. Once the station is sold and the format is flipped, they will clean house and replace the people who are left with either people from the new group or cheaper help from the beach.

Do PDs listen to the station?

We clearly are not talking about the same place. None of the PD's here are on-air.

The only way that B102.7 in Terre Haute is going to get better is if Crossroads sells it. Plane and simple. How many bad books in a row does it take to wake up and do something totally different?

My understanding is that they are in the process of selling some of Crossroad's properties. I heard from a somewhat reliable source that the smaller signals and the AM's were going to be sold. I don't know what the fate is for WBOW (the fm), but hopefully it goes to someone else too. If anyone has any more information about this, please pass it along.

How many station's have off air PDs anymore?

In Indy, yes, but Terre Haute?

When I read the first statement here, I could have sworn it was my PD being described, who is not on the air but clearly has no time to address any real problems because he's too busy reflecting on how great radio was "in his day," bragging about his massive music trivia knowledge and complaining about how busy he is. The big boss knows the PD sucks, but he can't do anything about it. Can you imagine the chaos that would come from actually listening to a jock's complaints about the PD and acting on them? God forbid! That might give the jocks power. We can't have that, now, can we? Once management gives in on one issue, next thing you know, the jocks will be demanding everything...like equipment that works. It would be a DISASTER of epic proportions!

That's been going aroud for some time. Last I heard was Midwest wanted am 1300 and am 1130 and 102.7 F.M. But if that happened, wouldn't they have to give up a FM?
I was listening to the B today and heard England Dan and John Ford Coley "I Really wanna see you tonight", and then Rockstar by Nickelback.

:D they should totally hire a few of the unemployed hot dj's out there and start over as something new! Like something terre haute has never had or has been lacking for some time! Crossroads needs revamped but they still have hope!

Crossroads once had a seasoned veteran who had programming experience and was excellent on air tallent. Instead of taking his advice he was egnored and the bad books just kept on coming. He was then fired. You sure you want to work there?

been there done that -- Just meaning I have ideas ya know ! Dont we all think we could better the failing stations we once loved!

Who are you talking about? What air "tallent" was "egnorned?"

Brian Thomas, He took WVTS in the 80's out of the gutter, and made it a respectable no. 2 in the market. You may not agree with everything the guy says, but looking at the B's last several books, would it have hurt to at least let him try to fix it? Buy the way, the last time I listened to the morning drive it sounded like it was jukeboxed, did the morning guy get let go?

BT is a good guy, and he has some great ideas. I'm not sure why they didn't let him take a shot at it. They let everybody else.

As for the morning show, I don't think they let Adam go just yet since he's the pd. But maybe they just threw away the morning show until they get a new pd? If so, that means the only person left on the air is Julie. She's great, but I don't know if she can hold the station entirely on her shoulders.
