Intelligent Talk Radio

With all the discussion on this board about talk radio, I thought I would steer you to an alternative. For those of you who are tired of polarizing radio, there is a talk station that broadcasts intelligent talk. The hosts on WBZ 1030 Boston, unlike those on conservative or liberal networks, provide intelligent and entertaining arguments on subject matters. In addition, caller's opinions whether in agreement or not, are all respected. As a liberal, I enjoyed listening to the late conservative host David Brudnoy. Though I disagreed with him much of the time, I enjoyed listening to a different and intelligent perspective on the issues. BTW, the station always ends up in the top five in Boston ratings. With the exception of some weekend shows, the station is all local including the overnight. This 50KW station is easily picked up at night in NE Ohio, where I grew up, and is also streamed on the web.

I agree, though during the summer that "night" signal takes quite a while to come in here...especially in western Cuyahoga and Lorain counties due to WJTB. WGN 720 has good, local, all night programming as well, though not political.

WBZ, WGN and to some extent KDKA are what I would love to have seen KYW/WKYC/WWWE/WTAM 1100 become over the years, intelligent news talk radio with talented personnel that know how to talk on different subjects without having to shove an opinion down ones throat on either side or talk down to listeners. With the signal they have there is no reason they couldnt have had local talk overnight like WBZ or KDKA. And during much of the day as well.

For those old enough to remember, that is what it used to be...for its time. But those days ended. That's when some scribe came up with the moniker for WWWE: "What A Waste of Watts and Energy."
